The Des Moines Register is accusing White House contender Ted Cruz of carrying out a "campaign of deceit," calling his actions troubling for Iowa Republican voters.
The state's paper of record charged the Cruz campaign with peddling "pure, unadulterated fiction" when it sent voting mailers that appeared to be from the government.
The mailers told voters they had received a "voting violation" because of poor caucus participation in the past and for sharing information about other voters. "This was simply a politically motivated attempt to shame certain people into caucusing by assigning them 'grades' and 'scores' that had absolutely no legitimacy," the paper wrote.
"In essence, the mailer was a complete lie, from start to finish."
Cruz won the Monday caucuses by a margin of 3 percent, ahead of Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.

Maybe Iowans are not smart enough to see through it——
As for the Des Moines Register's outrage, they can cram it up their buttocks (HT to Emory and Oglethorpe). I'm lukewarm to Cruz at this point, but whenever the Register is "concerned" about anything Republican, they are just flinging cow pies hoping to hit someone other than Hillary and Bernard.
Mr. niteowl77
Yes very funny, I can understand it from the Trumpeters but ........LOL
#39 he’s out of gas money.
Except the freepers from Iowa-— who are more than capable of figuring out this bad bit of advertising..
Another Cruz endorsement from the presstitutes!
Can somebody let me know when they run a story about how Clinton won 6 out of 6 coin tosses to win her HUGE “victory” in Iowa?
Dude, it's clickbait at best. Surely you have noticed how contrived the manufactured outrage is getting?
Good for DMR. They came out in favor of an audit, for the Dim caucus, the other day. I guess this is the most they’ll say about the CRuznanigans....at least they’ve said this.
Dude??
Maybe the bus was repoed at the end of Jan?
He did let go of half his staff b/c of lack of cash.
Sorry, I was watching a John Hughes movie last night.
We are talking about unprincipled, on the ground, on caucus night, status-quo gutter politics.
Trump wasnât the one pulling dirty crap on caucus night when votes were being counted. Ted Cruz, the “principled” conservative did that.
Don’t write him off just yet. He’s still the best we’ve got.
Believe what ever you want makes NO difference to me and it doesn’t make Cruz any less of a cheater
Equivocation yet again.
Nothing more than a typical marketing gimmick to get your attention.
Sane people look at something like this and realize they did not just receive a speeding ticket or other bad news from the government.
Could be. He has already cost one young man his life with his sham campaign. That 25 year old young man died on an icy road in Iowa. Of course, Carson was nowhere near Iowa at the time.
“Yeah. Whoever is running the GOP needs to be fired. They do things that just cause us to look stupid. I am talking about the idea to leave Carly off the stage. The only woman running. Democrats talking war on woman which is dumb but probably effective. I like Carly bashing Hillary. We can certainly be the dumb party for sure. Cruz doesnât help our cause at all.”
Entirely agree. At this point another chair or podium can be found, for sure. And you are right strategically.
“We are being led by really stupid people,” comes along all of the time.
Pretty much every man who has been president did some cheating along the way, and worse. Grow up.
