Ryan, McCarthy again tell Chaffetz to stay away from Clinton
Politico ^ | February 4,2016 | JAKE SHERMAN and RACHAEL BADE

Speaker Paul Ryan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy met privately with Rep. Jason Chaffetz Wednesday evening to reiterate that he cannot proceed with any investigation that involves Hillary Clinton, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting.

The impetus for the gathering was a POLITICO story where Chaffetz, the chairman, of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was quoted as saying that a pending probe into government record keeping practices would not be "specifically trying to target the secretary, but when she creates her own private email system, she's ensnarled herself.” Presented with the quote before publication, House Republican leaders were taken aback, saying they told Chaffetz to steer clear of Clinton in his broader probe of the use of personal email addresses to conduct government business.

House Republican leadership is moving cautiously when it comes to Clinton. Ryan and McCarthy have been clear about their preference that the FBI handle anything Clinton related. But Chaffetz's comments led to confusion in Republican leadership.

If you go "follow the money" on that one than maybe something happened but what?

Don't know about Ryan, but he may just be following Mitch's lead to avoid conflict (again). I guess the bottom line is that the GOPe is determined to be in charge no matter how stupid and wimpy they look.

THIS should become a top issue for the primary ....

“Speaker Paul Ryan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy met privately with Rep. Jason Chaffetz Wednesday evening to reiterate that he cannot proceed with any investigation that involves Hillary Clinton, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting.”

I had wanted Hillary’s political carcass dragged across the primary finish line before she goes down, but THIS is not the way to do it!

Paul Ryan needs to lose his seat in congress, even if a democrat wins it.

Mitch is compromised as well check out his discharge papers from the military it tells you all you want to know.McConnell got a discharge from the service in 67 for an eye disease easily cured with medicine available at the time.

Real reason sodomy on a fellow soldier.

You will have to dig deep to find it but it's there and along with blacked out and missing pages. Mitch the bitch is bi-sexual and the regime found out and has been using it against him ever since.

I heard a report yesterday [on radio] that Condi Rice and Powell also have email scandals. So this could be a bipartizan coverup now.

[And we now how Hillary loves FBI files if you know what I mean.]

But with our insurgent candidates, don’t let your rear touch the saddle because this horse is about to gallop!

‘...those Committees have zero legal power to punish anyone.’

When the FBI exposes someone with political influence, it helps to know if one party has your back. If both parties unite against an investigation, it gets dangerous. That is a powerful coersion tactic.

I agree. The Benghazi hearings did nothing, and these will simply give cover to the notion of a partisan witch hunt. Clinton only has a career because in 1998-1999 she and Bill were able to characterize Whitewater and Lewinsky as bad Republicans and not perjury and moral turpitude in the Oval Office.

Also I am not really clear you need a hearing. There are no controversies around policy or spending here. Clinton broke uncontroverisal laws and policies regarding communication security and (maybe) exchanged official action for contributions (uncontroversially illegal).

Let the FBI recommend prosecution and let the DOJ either carry the ball or publicly drop it. The DOJ oversight committees CERTAINLY could get involved if a criminal referral is disregarded, to see why.

‘Paul Ryan and McCarthy are TRAITORS to AMERICA!!!!’

This primary is about to get a lot more interesting.

I predict PAIN for the entire Ruling Class. Ryan is new and vulnerable as Speaker to begin with. Talk radio is going to draw blood.

Cruz had promised to investigate Hillary if he wins. Trump is no friend of the Clintons either. Sanders is already beating her in New Hampshire, and Bloomberg is thinking about running third party if she wins the primary. Bloomberg would peel off votes.

THIS is getting stranger than ever.

We suspected that Hillary would go down scratching like an alley cat. She will bring down a lot of people with her.

True, but the GOP certainly hasn’t united against the FBI. It’s been pretty obvious that Gowdy and others have been digging for information with all the (limited) tools at their disposal, and there are plenty of GOP politicians essentially saying that she’s a crook.

Agreed.

Only reason to not prosecute her would be because of threats from her.

What does she have on them?

What does she have on anyone, because there is a whole passel of them that are fearful of attacking her.

If not what she has on them, then it is what she has on the entire workings and procedures of the government, that may be exposed during an actual prosecutorial safari into Clinton's misdeeds.

Kind of like the "too big to fail" entities, she and her ilk might just be the same, to big, too involved, too dirty, for the citizenry to see.

Going to have to reroute the Potomac to clean out these stables.
