I guess I needed to read more on her. She spoke for Alito and endorsed him so I think you might not know what you are talking about. I see nothing about her being pro choice. Where do you see that?
Actually, the comment was made in August of 2015, so he certainly was running for president, and it was not an "off the cuff" remark, it was in response to an interview question.
