...

Whereas Cruz has already survived one collision with Trump. And Cruz has already won a state. No other candidate can make either boast. And so long as that remains the case, no other candidate can claim to be a more likely nominee.

Ronald Reagan won in every one of those states except MN

Because he won the white working class overwhelmingly. Every guy who swung a hammer wanted to have a beer with him. And he ran as an open American nationalist.

Can your slightly weird debating champ do that? I live among Reagan Democrats, I married into a Reagan Democrat family. I worked with them for many years.

Two things about the white working class: They love Trump. They hate Cruz.

Reagan did not win 45 and 49 states because he was a conservative.

Here's your CNN LINK

This is what Chris Moody tweeted:

At 6:43 p.m. Central Time, Mr. Moody tweeted quote:

"Carson won't go to NH/SC, but instead will head home to Florida for some R&R. He'll be in DC Thursday for the National Prayer Breakfast."

It was an ambiguous tweet ("... won't go to NH/SC..."). A reasonable person could have understood it the way the Cruz staffers did, that Carson was folding before NH/SC.

This, it turns out, was a mistake. But not a "dirty trick."

You're welcome.

Well, Cruz is just going to have to work all the more harder to win them over. Because let’s face it, he is the one who will benefit the working class the most out of any of the candidates. And as I said before, there simply is no other choice in this race.

We face an existential threat, and it is embedded in all of our governmental and cultural institutions from Washington D.C. on down. I don’t see anyone else who understands that threat, or who has the intestinal fortitude to do anything about the same, except Ted Cruz.

Do you?

Ted Cruz is my favorite politician. I will vote for him if he gets the nomination even though he is no longer my first choice. It won’t matter though, he won’t win, and even if he did the destruction of the country through both legal and illegal immigration would continue unabated. He is a very “principled conservative” and I am now convinced that the highest conservative principle is unfettered access to cheap foreign labor.

With no ideas or policy positions to share, Trump has to throw red meat to the media to keep the focus off his lack of understanding when it comes to governess or foreign policy.

And that right there is how rumors get started.

(Hoping CNN would pick that up and run with it, were ya?)

Re:”Oh, and you forgot, Trump called Iowans stupid

And still only “lost” by 4 percent. That is pretty funny. Cruz was in Iowa for 2 years, spent a ton of money and had a decent ground game and barely won. Even God picked him as the future President and still only got 4 percent.

And you forgot Rump pandered to the ethanol lobby while Cruz stood up to them and WON.
Rump= First Loser

I am reminded of the Rudy Giuliani madness here a few years back . . . before housecleaning.,/i>

At least Trump now claims to be Pro-Life. Giuliani thought that he could keep the pro-abort "New York Value".

What appeals?
Trump got clobbered in Iowa fair and square.

Maybe. So you dismiss the misinformation Cruz campaign sent out as “fair and square”? Certainly deserves a look IMO. If it wrongly changed an average of four votes per precinct to Cruz, then it looks like Trump would have won - not so “fair and square.” Cruz seems a bit slippery to me right now. We’ll see.

Even assuming “dirty tricks” were used (they were not, see my previous post)

# 1. Where did that average 4 votes per precinct come from?

# 2. Why would Carson votes go to Cruz and not Rubio, who outperformed his poll numbers far more than anyone else?

Dunno, ask the Cruz staff that couldn’t wait to tell the voters that Carson was out and vote instead for Cruz.

It looks like I was in error yesterday. I owe you an apology, or at least a clarificaiton.

I hadn't seen the actual timeline on the CNN tweets and the Carson and Cruz responses until today, on SteynOnLine (Link).

From the timeline, we can reasonably infer that the Cruz people pretty quickly realized that Carson wasn't folding, and that they exploited an ambiguous bit of rumor that they knew was false.

Bad on Cruz. Even if he "personally" didn't know about it until later, it's still bad on Cruz.

Sorry for jumping in yesterday without all the relevant facts.

Ronald Reagan won in every one of those states

Do you think if Reagan was alive today he could win the governorship of California?

2012: Obama +23

2014: Moonbeam +20

It's not the 80s any more.
