UPDATE: FEC Informs Ted Cruz Campaign They Must Provide Information On 2012 Senate Loans…
http://theconservativetreehouse.com/ ^ | Feb 3, 2016 | sundance

Posted on 02/03/2016 2:25:15 PM PST by FR_addict

By now most people are aware of the controversy surrounding Candidate Ted Cruz and his failure to reveal $1.3 million in campaign "loans" from Goldman Sachs and Citibank during his 2012 campaign for the senate. At the heart of the issue is a failure of Ted and Heidi Cruz to list Wall Street "loans" on the required Federal Election Commission financial reports.

Together with the campaign officials the Cruz's say the non-reporting was an accidental oversight. However, a watch dog group has now filed a complaint with the FEC which is step one to beginning an FEC investigation.

Update! Today the FEC requested information from the Cruz campaign, with a response due by March 8th: The full complaint (pdf) is outlined below. However, the larger question behind the complaint would be the motive for Ted and Heidi Cruz to hide the source of their campaign funds. The activity the complainant is presenting to have the FEC investigate, if proven accurate, is factually illegal.

The "accidental omission" is not necessarily the problem. The irreconcilable consequences from an accurate filing are the larger issue.

They can correct the missing information and file amended reports. However, if the Cruz campaign corrects the record based on the explanations to the media, the amended reports will reflect their violations of federal campaign finance laws...

” accidental omissions are not illegal. “

DID YOU READ THE FORMER POSTS ?

Somewhere it was pointed out that a Goldmansucks banker and the worlds sharpest lawyer - are not going to goof.

It also pointed out the very reason WHY they had to omit this required fact.

ooooooooops

He came here as a baby, before he could remember or knew any different. That is “all of his life” as far as he is concerned.

“It also pointed out the very reason WHY”

They didn’t have to omit it. Do you not understand the definition of ACCIDENTAL omission??

The author, a paid Trump staffer, is only making an unsupported accusation that Cruz had a reason. This will blow over since Cruz did nothing wrong and accidental omission is not illegal.

Cruz is not an an anchor baby, but he was a Canadian citizen at birth thru birthright citizenship (jus solis) He only recently renounced his Canadian citizenship. He has been a dual citizen for over 40 yeras.

LOL. His birth certificate automatically makes him a Canadian citizen at birth. He must take a positive action to renounce it or otherwise he remains a Canadian citizen. It is called birthright citizenship for a reason. Anyone born on US soil is a citizen at birth except for the children of diplomats and other formally accredited personnel.

Why do you think Cruz formally renounced his citizenship? I provided you with the document. Read it.

Ted has a ‘memory’ problem....
Didn’t know he pushed amnesty, etc, etc....said natural born meant born on US soil of US citizen.....
Didn’t know he was a Canadian citizen....(what document did he show when applying to Harvard, etc....I had to show a USA issued birth certificate...?????

Ted Cruz Failed To Disclose Ties To Caribbean Holding Company
An old college friendship led to financial entanglement with a Jamaican private equity firm and a British Virgin Islands holding company. Neither was disclosed during his 2012 campaign.

No, man, you are obsessed with this. Ted was an American citizen at birth. He was admitted to college and universities as an AMERICAN. Just as he doesn’t know Spanish any more than I know Slovak, b/c he didn’t care about learning it, he probably never studied Canadian law. Why should he have. The man is American. I think the NBC “controversy” is silliness.
Some of you are like the people who were concerned with dining protocol during the sinking of the Titanic.

Ted Cruz was a dual national until he renounced his Canadian citizenship. You just can’t handle the truth.

Canadian law made Ted a citizen. U.S. law makes him an American. I don’t know about you, but Canadian law is irrelevant to me.

Canadian law was not irrelevant to Cruz. He had to formally renounce his Canadian citizenship on May 14, 2014. Have we ever had a President who held dual citizenship at birth? Actually Cruz had to apply for derivative citizenship thru his mother. Proof had to be presented that showed his mother met the requirements at the time. Not every American citizen mother can convey US citizenship to her child.

Cruz renounced the conferred citizenship b/c he knew that there are some people who were going to stomp up and down about this kind of nonsense. Surprise! It has happened.

Cruz renounced the conferred citizenship

It was not conferred. It was birthright citizenship. Cruz would still be a Canadian citizen if he had not renounced it in May 2014. Until 2014, Cruz was a dual citizen of Canada and the US. Just a fact. Obviously, Cruz would have been a fool to run for President holding dual nationalities. The real question is he a natural born citizen, which has never been litigated.

I don’t know what to say to you, but it seems to me if we can put up with stuff like this, you should be able to put up with the stuff we have been posting.

We haven’t come anywhere near doing things like this, and I find it sad that one side has felt the need to do this.

None the less, that side continues to trash us for being beyond the pale.

So instead of trying to stop Free Republic members from insulting and attacking each other, you want to expand it and grow it.

This is why I am leaving. It is not campaigning.
