So I guess constitutional conservatives are just going to be expected to vote for the candidate that is clearly constitutionally ineligible to be POTUS? I swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution but I’ll be expected to break that oath for Ted Cruz? I don’t think so.

Yep, keep believing Cruz is ineligible. If he wasn’t, he would never have spent the last 3 years preparing for this. Someone along the way would have told him he wasn’t eligible. Maybe Dershowitz, or Levin, or maybe even someone with a bit more knowledge about this, like Scalia.

Let me guess. No one will say a word about this and if he becomes the nominee, then they will take it to court. Does that sound about right?

Trump is up 22 points.

Maybe Ted can start speaking in tongues again, that might help.

I also took an other to protect and defend the constitution. And it is very clear to me that the Constitution enumerated Congress with the power to define ALL of the rules of Naturalization which includes who is naturally born a citizen, ie a citizen by birth not by naturalization.

And Congress exercised their authority starting in 1790 and through several acts of Congress have defined the current rule of citizen at birth in Title 8 section 1401 of the US Code. Under subsection G of that code, Cruz was a citizen at birth because he was naturally born a citizen and has never needed naturalization.

The arguments against Cruz being a natural born citizen require mental backflips. The consensus and majority opinion is that citizen at birth = native citizen = natural born citizen. This has been argued endlessly around here, so maybe no one is going to change his or her mind, but this issue is NOT going to stop Cruz from being president. If you feel voting for him somehow violates your conscience then don’t. Just know there are many people here who disagree with your assessment and will support and vote for Cruz. We are not going to quit supporting him just because some people feel as you do.
