From Time Mag....
Ben Carson was incensed as the results of Monday night’s Iowa caucuses rolled in, accusing the winner of spreading falsehoods about him at caucus sites.
Carson’s team claimed that Cruz’s campaign deliberately sent emails to supporters to spread false rumors at caucus sites that Carson had dropped out, so his supporters would caucus for other candidates.
“That is really quite a dirty trick,” Carson said speaking to reporters at the end of the evening. “That’s the very kind of thing that irritated me enough to get into this quagmire.”

“To have campaigns come out and send emails to their caucus speakers suggesting that Dr. Carson was doing anything but moving forward after tonight is the lowest of low in American politics,” said Carson campaign manager Ed Brookover.
“This is horseshit,” Rob Taylor, Iowa state representative and Carson’s Iowa co-chair, said simply.
Members of Carson’s team furnished evidence of various precinct captains alleging misconduct by the Cruz campaign.
Ryan Rhodes, Carson’s Iowa state director, showed reporters a text on his phone from Barbara Heki, a Mike Huckabee supporter. “The Cruz speakers at our caucus announced Carson was suspending his campaign for a while after caucus. They did this before the vote. Same thing happened at another caucus. Sounds like slimy Cruzing to me,” the text read.
Jason Osborne, Carson’s deputy senior strategist, read aloud another missive, this one an email from their precinct chair in Muscatine: “The guy speaking for Ted Cruz right before the vote, he was supposed to be done, he announced that there was a story on CNN that Ben Carson was taking a break after Iowa, and then stated, ‘So you might want to rethink wasting your vote on him.’”

The campaign is pointing a tweet from Rep. Steve King, who endorsed Cruz, as evidence. The tweet was sent at 8:20pm EST, when Iowans were already at caucus sites.
Carson looks like he is out. Iowans need to know before they vote. Most will go to Cruz, I hope. https://t.co/lW5Js50EMA

King was retweeting a report that the doctor was heading to Florida for a day. Carson said earlier in the night he was going home to grab some “fresh clothes,” but told reporters not to read into it.

Why would he bother? This smells to high heaven.
Perhaps if Carson had campaigned with a little energy then the misinformation from the Cruz camp wouldn’t have been so believable.
Lol. Tough night eh puny?
There’s just something about Ted Cruz that I don’t trust.
Some Ted Cruz supporter on Twitter, appears to be a high profile individual, but no clue who he is (his name is Dan Gabriel), apparently spread info on his page that sources inside Camp Carson told him Carson was dropping out. He then deleted the tweet later on and began blaming Donald Trump for spreading Carson rumor:

Wow, that Ted Cruz IS nasty. Trump was right about him.
So glad I bailed on Ted.
I thought Trump was all class tonight...so proud of him!
"There was a brief period of time where Dr. Ben Carson was believed to be the man who could stop the Donald Trump train and Iowa was going to be the state where he proved that.
Those days appear to be over after the mainstream media launched a brutal series of attacks against Carson and he now finds himself on the outside looking in according to most major polls.
The media is practically giddy at the idea of Ben Carson dropping out and CNN took some "insider" information live onto the air today that was a little misleading and the Carson campaign was apparently extremely upset."......
I don’t believe that Carson is Presidental material, but I am willing to be proven wrong.
Having said that, dirty tricks are dirty tricks, no matter who they’re played on. If Trump’s people did this, I’d demand that they be fired right away. Cruz’s people did this? Fire them. Blackball them. Show that this is NOT acceptable behavior, especially from a candidate who is focusing so much of his campaign around Christian values.
I am not going to believe this whole-heartedly until I get some proof, but if true, this is going to be used against him.
Outrageous! Carson is not suspending his campaign. He is just taking a break!
How could anyone confuse suspending and taking a break?
Lots of accusations. What are the facts? Who said what, specifically?
Carson is a great man but the first 2 seconds of his voice tells you he is not going to be president.
My wife and I are thrilled and hopeful after last night's results. Congratulations!
This morning, I woke up and decided to make another, larger contribution to the campaign. My wife agreed. But then, we heard the news. Now, we'll wait until after New Hampshire to see if the campaign is finished shooting itself in the foot. ...
The news report said Steve King (our favorite Congressman and your national co-chair) and the campaign Tweeted before the start of the caucus that Ben Carson is pulling out, and Cruz-ers like us should spread the word.
Given I was the one who stood up and spoke on Ted's behalf to over 300 attendees at our caucus site, I thank God I did not receive that "news" prior to speaking, since I definitely would have passed the word on, believing Steve King and the Cruz campaign were trustworthy sources.
So here we have another campaign debacle. First it was that deceptive, made-to-look-official mailer intended to shame people into going to their caucus (sure, other campaigns use similar tactics but, is that who we are?). Now, it's a false (deceptive?) Tweet hoping to pull votes from Carson supporters. At best, everyone failed to verify the original source. It looks bad and in many ways, perception is reality. Regardless of the truth, how it looks matters.
For now, we're waiting and watching to see what happens.
Disappointed and hopeful,
[Mr. and Mrs. newgeezer]
It's so much easier for Carson to blame Cruz than to accept the fact that his candidacy is a joke. In the last debate, he could barely give coherent answers to the few questions that he got, and he's proven himself to be clueless on policy time after time. Carson's role in this election is a lot like Herman Cain's 4 years ago: comic relief combined with an outlet for a certain kind of Republican voter to show how "inclusive" they are.
Cruz pulled a Hillary
he did the deed to win and apologized after it was too late
Too soon? ;)
