Jeb Bush's Super PAC Sees Donations Dry Up

The former frontrunner once had to ask donors to restrain themselves. Now they've disappeared.

How the mightily-funded have fallen.

Back in July, Right to Rise, the super PAC that formed to boost Jeb Bush's presidential bid, announced it had hauled in a staggering $103 million in the first half of the year. The sum was intended in part to intimidate the rest of a still-forming field and their potential donors into believing that the nomination of the former Florida governor was an inevitability.

Obviously, a lot's changed since. The account on Sunday night reported that its collections in the second half of the year sagged to $15.1 million, a stark comment on Bush's diminished standing. The lion's share of that total came in a $10 million check from C.V. Starr, an insurance agency operator headed by former AIG CEO Hank Greenberg. Only one other donor forked over a contribution greater than six figures - Morton Bouchard, the CEO of an oil barge company, gave $1 million. That's a far cry from last spring, when Bush fundraisers advised eager donors to limit their contributions to $1 million so as to avoid a possible public relations headache if the account raise too much money.

Maybe Jeb can make up for it by starting to push his guaca bowles on the Home Shopping Network.

BOL! What are the Trump hating pacs paying their trolls on FR per post and reply. There has been a resurrection of old FR logoners this past month. Many have not been posting for years, and they flooded the site last month. Also, a lot of newbie faux conservatives showed up last month.

Call Michael Moore. From the look of things he can fill at least three.

Without Trump in the race, this would probably have been the case.

I think the whole Bush family should be in the commercial, and perform a jingle as a family Mariachi Band.

It would be very festive and upbeat!

I doubt it.

All Jeb had going for him was he came from a famous family.

Even that is old news for Republicans.

Their day in the sun has come and gone.

This primary race is deadly serious. The bloated weakened carcass of our once great nation is in dire need of emergency care.

Like an alcoholic or a drug addict or an obsessive over eater, all the noxious symptoms and pathologies America is suffering, have been self induced.

Our Nation always had the right idea, the magic sauce, the secret formula that allowed us to succeed, prosper and provide opportunity for any individual of any color or race, who was motivated by God Family and Patriotism.

But success breeds lethargy and complacency, the curse of inherited wealth caused us to let our guard down, to forget what created the great wealth and stature we all inherited.

Now time grows short. It is a much faster trip to the bottom then the painful arduous methodical journey to the top.

America is plumeting towards a disasterous crash landing, thanks to the portion of our population that denies a creator, disrespects our constitution and will not acknowledge good and evil.

I believe only one man has the right stuff. Sometimes good things come in surprising packages. Donald Trump is a man for his times. More than anyone I believe he can administer a therapeutic dose of traditional patriotic red white and blue medicine to the fading husk of America.

Let the games begin.

You beat me to it with the bowls. That’s what sent them over the edge. $75. Snort, my grocery store gives them away for free if you buy a jar of picante sauce or some such.

That or his pocket turtles ate him out of house and home.
