A Democrat Explains Why She’s Voting For Donald Trump
huffpost.com ^ | January 30

She once voted for Hillary Clinton, but now she's supporting Donald Trump.

Rebecca Thoeni says the real estate mogul and presidential candidate is speaking truths no other politician -- of either party -- is offering right now. And it is his uncharacteristic bluster that made her bolt the Democrats in favor of the Grand Old Party.

"He's down to earth and seems to have a lot of common sense, which is lacking. I just like him. I think he really stirred the people up," said Thoeni, who huddled with approximately 800 other people at an outdoor Trump rally on Saturday, a chilly winter day in January. The venue was none other than a hangar at the Dubuque airport, the classiest of locations, if only because it provided the best view of Trump's arrival in a Boeing 757 jet emblazoned with his name.

"I like how he wants to take back our country. That's the main thing; it's our country. And the respect. We're getting screwed over," she added.

Re: “Even if they were never allowed to become citizens and vote, just being counted in the census would shift a number of Congressional seats to the blue states...”

The mandate of the Census Bureau is to count “all persons present” in the USA, regardless of legal status.

Many illegal immigrants are currently counted in the Census. The last real time estimate I saw was a 2-3 seat House of Reps shift from Red to Blue, two in California, and I can’t recall the third one.

If i were much younger and had been asked who i wanted to be when i grew up and knew of persons like Trump, Cruz, Bush, Sanders or even Obama i would have said Trump.

Because he is a winner, and at 59 the kid is still inside me wishing he had even a fraction of what Trump has.

Not interested in being a political puppet for others, a communist, nor a muslim, nope a person with his own jet, gold plated toilets and yes, gorgeous woman.

Trump has it all.

My mother prefers candidates with good speaking voices.

“I have to listen to them talk for at least for years,” she says.

Apparently we should recruit Liev Schrieber.

I don’t see why it should be odd that a Democrat would vote for Trump.

Actually, my candidate is Santorum.

Why? Why not back Scott Walker? Any thing you post in the future will be suspect and we are all more stupid from having read any and all of your posts.

The American people are up to the hilt with ALL the politicians who have ruined this country and seek someone, anyone who offers real hope to salvage what is left of a once great nation. Trump’s message seems to have resonated best and quite well with many of the people who will eventually vote. Should Trump get the nod, I pray (I still have that right you know) that he can deliver.

Imagine someone not agreeing with you!

Amazing, Democrats who are Americans, first!

That has got to terrify the DC Uni-Party!

We have a depressing situation where all campaign money is spent to sway the dumbest 10% of voters, because they are the ones that are swayable and supposedly decide elections. The really sad thing is that it would probably only be worse if more than the 50-60% of eligible voters who normally vote in national elections turned out, because you have to think there are more dim bulbs proportionately in the non-voting eligible group.

"He is down to earth"

********

I would not exactly say that!

It's probably more accurate to say that Trump has a "common touch", despite his wealth and celebrity. It really shows just how out-of-touch the professional politicians have become, that the most "relatable" candidate in the race is a real estate mogul and billionaire.

Someone want to fill me in on HOW the vaunted ‘right’ to voting allows the taxpayer leeches, low-info voters yet, can’t have a poll-tax/test.

I see NOTHING in the 14th that disallows a validation for STUPIDITY (Yeah, I know, damn courts again).

Good insight.

People forget the downside of the American tradition of secret ballots: Your neighbors can vote to confiscate the fruits of your labor without having to identify themselves. It tempts every voter to become a thief.

Only because we NO LONGER have a Constitution; no legislation is based upon it (OK, 99% isn’t), no Court upholds it, no Executive enforces.

Why else CAN neighbors vote upon ‘laws’, in blatant violation of the 5th, 13th...?!

Re: “Why Santorum? Why not back Scott Walker?”

Because Santorum is the only GOP candidate who vigorously supports a reduction in LEGAL immigration, and he has consistently supported that reduction for at least the last eight years.

Trump (is that your candidate?) has talked (or written) about reducing LEGAL immigration once or twice, and only since 2015.

New immigrant citizens - as I'm sure you know - vote 80% for the Democrat Party.

Since the Reagan Amnesty in 1986, the Democrat Party has LEGALLY imported 20 million Socialist voters.

For some reason, most people in the Republican Party enthusiastically support that policy, and, until quite recently, Trump also supported it.

"Imagine someone not agreeing with you!"

You are filed under "completely missed the whole point I was making", thanks for playing. If you would have actually read my post, my whole point was that I don't mind someone not agreeing with me on a candidate and their issues. What I mind is someone who's voting for someone for the stupidest of reasons like he's got a full head of hair. This person has the same power of one vote as I do yet they don't even take the time to research a candidate's position. Their vote will help propel the person who is going to lead this country and have an effect over my life as well as everyone elses. If you're going to vote, you have a civic responsibility to research the candidates position. Not vote because he seems nice or has nice hair, etc...
