Trust Ted? Cruz Facing Growing Attacks on Credibility
ABC ^ | 1/31/2016 | STEVE PEOPLES AND SCOTT BAUER

Ted Cruz needs you to trust him.

Trust is the cornerstone of this fiery conservative's campaign, which may live or die with his ability to convince voters in Iowa and across the nation that he's the most consistent and trustworthy among the pack of White House hopefuls.

Yet as he strives for victory in Iowa's Monday caucuses, a chorus of Republican critics led by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is tearing at the fabric of Cruz's message.

His GOP opponents cite a history of political opportunism they say is more in line with a used car salesman than the "consistent conservative" he claims to be. In debates, TV ads and on the campaign trail, fellow Republicans are highlighting inconsistencies in Cruz's policies on immigration, foreign policy and even his dedication to Christian conservative values. They're also reminding voters that the self-described outsider is an Ivy League-educated lawyer who served in former President George W. Bush's administration.

"If you are going to campaign as the most principled, the most consistent conservative, then your record better support that," said Rubio's senior strategist Todd Harris. "As long as he holds himself out to be holier than thou on all things conservative, we're going to continue to point out that he's not."

“And we agree on one thing, you have no clue. :-)”

No, really, can you give a logical reason why you put that in there? The only Stalin I am familiar with was a Russian murderer.

And you pose as someone with a clue?

“People in business have to prove that they are trustworthy”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many bankruptcies has Trump had? How many failed businesses? How is “Trump University” doing”

” And in a suit brought by the State of New York, a trial court found Trump was personally liable for running an unlicensed school and must pay restitution to approximately 800 consumers nationwide who took courses after May 31, 2010 from the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative (formerly known as Trump University).

In addition, the court authorized Trump’s attorneys to take the deposition of more than 5,000 consumers who took courses before that date and for whom New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is seeking restitution under claims of fraud.”

http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/24/news/donald-trump-university-lawsuit/

“”We realized that Trump was not teaching us how to find these needles in a haystack,” Richard Hewson’s affidavit says. “We concluded that we had paid over $20,000 for nothing, based on our belief in Donald Trump and the promises made at the [organization’s] free seminar and three-day workshop.” “We never tried to get our money back because at that point we thought the whole thing was a scam and that we would not be able to fight Donald Trump,” Hewson wrote.”

Now, Trump is facing three separate lawsuits — two class action suits filed in California and one filed by New York’s attorney general — which argue the program that took in an estimated $40 million, but was mired in fraud and deception.

“We started looking at Trump University and discovered that it was a classic bait-and-switch scheme. It was a scam, starting with the fact that it was not a university,” New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman told CNN’s New Day after filing suit in 2013.

No man is without faults, but I trust Cruz quite a bit more than I trust the voters.

Cruz said he wouldn’t make fighting gay “marriage” one of the top *three* priorities.

Wow! Everyone knows that fighting gay “marriage” is more important than:

1. fighting ISIS!

2. fighting illegal border crossings!

3. fighting abortion!

4. fighting socialism/communism!

Stalin was a socialist. Uncle Joe is an expression that has been around forever. It was said tongue in cheek. Don’t fret on it. It is no big deal.

You apparently do not come from a small business background. You would not be ridiculing my statement.

As far as Trump University... I do not know... I personally have a low opinion of many of these types of “schools”. I also know that once a bunch of lawyers get involved the truth about it will be difficult to determine especially in the current political climate. It is going to take more than a politically motivated attack by political opponents to convince me that this situation is a reflection on Mr. Trump’s character.

You don’t trust cruz because of his profession, but you do trust trump who admitted, gleefully, to sleeping with multiple married women?

Ok.

Deserves repeating

These are rather silly articles when you get right down to it. You just need to look at Cruz’ voting record. Who does Cruz most often vote with in the Senate? Tim Scott. Pretty darn conservative, by any measure. Who does Cruz most often vote against? Chuck Schumer. Pretty darn conservative, by any measure.https://www.opencongress.org/people/voting_history/412573_Ted_Cruz

“It is going to take more than a politically motivated attack by political opponents to convince me that this situation is a reflection on Mr. Trump’s character.”

So...a court decision saying fraud doesn’t mean anything?

“You apparently do not come from a small business background.”

I’ve been ripped off by more than one small business in my life. It is not as though Trump has built one company and run it for decades. He has had multiple failures and many restructurings.

The thing I wonder about is why any politician would take out a loan to fund his campaign. They have to be gambling that the new job will pay off the loan and more. So how many years would it take Ted Cruz to pay back these Goldman loans on a Senator’s salary? This bothers me about Ted. I used to be gung ho for Ted, now not so much. I’d like to know how corrupt the guy is for real.

We may eventually have to un-cross those lines, depending on who wins in the primary.

All I do know is that no matter how bad either of them are, the rest of the field is at least an order of magnitude worse.

For years conservatives have wished Republican candidates would refuse to accept debate moderators intent on “taking” them out. Conservatives would look at how MSM debate moderators tossed softball questions at Democrat candidates, but then change to full throated take down mode when engaging a Republican. For over 30 years conservative Godfather Limbaugh himself has wished Republicans would grow a spine and refuse to debate on MSM/Democrat terms.

Moving ahead to 2015/2016 and what do we have? Real “conservatives” mad someone from “our” side actually had the nerve to do exactly what we claimed to have been hoping for.

Now “real conservatives” demand candidates pass their obligatory “purity” test to be worthy (of the label). To this group only the Canadian born Cuban/American lawyer “Shaming” Ted qualifies.

Beam Me Up Scotty.

Cruz and his wife took out a loan because the GOPe in Texas hated him and ran the RINO Dewhurst against him. Cruz’ wife works. They paid back the loan and everything was on the up and up.

I have spent enough time watching Cruz on CSpan in the middle of the night, fighting against almost the rest of the Senate, to know who Cruz is. Frankly, I am amazed at the lack of research of some people, and their willingness to accept what Trump, Rubio, and Huckabee are saying, lock, stock and barrel. I have also heard Rubio on amnesty when he thought no conservatives were listening, so I know who he really is. I have also heard Huckabee push for the Dream Act when he was Governor, so I know who he is, too.

I also saw Jeb Bush do nothing for Terry Schiavo, so I know him as well. I firmly doubt that he who was scared of a civil judge would have the courage of a lion in a face to face with Putin.

Ted Cruz is the one who stands above the rest as the real deal conservative.

Trump called Cruz a liar when Cruz claimed eminent domain made Trump rich. Paul and Rubio both called Cruz a liar when Cruz said he never supported legalization for illegals. Both statements by Cruz were untrue.

Cruzs’ health care plan is to let people die in the streets.
