Trust Ted? Cruz Facing Growing Attacks on Credibility
ABC ^ | 1/31/2016 | STEVE PEOPLES AND SCOTT BAUER

Ted Cruz needs you to trust him.

Trust is the cornerstone of this fiery conservative's campaign, which may live or die with his ability to convince voters in Iowa and across the nation that he's the most consistent and trustworthy among the pack of White House hopefuls.

Yet as he strives for victory in Iowa's Monday caucuses, a chorus of Republican critics led by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is tearing at the fabric of Cruz's message.

His GOP opponents cite a history of political opportunism they say is more in line with a used car salesman than the "consistent conservative" he claims to be. In debates, TV ads and on the campaign trail, fellow Republicans are highlighting inconsistencies in Cruz's policies on immigration, foreign policy and even his dedication to Christian conservative values. They're also reminding voters that the self-described outsider is an Ivy League-educated lawyer who served in former President George W. Bush's administration.

"If you are going to campaign as the most principled, the most consistent conservative, then your record better support that," said Rubio's senior strategist Todd Harris. "As long as he holds himself out to be holier than thou on all things conservative, we're going to continue to point out that he's not."

From the article...

"Trump, now locked in a close race for the lead in Iowa, has repeatedly called Cruz a liar in recent days. Chris Christie calls him a flip-flopper. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won Iowa's caucus in 2008, has seized on reports that Cruz told a group of New York donors last year that he wouldn't make fighting gay marriage a priority if elected. That's in sharp contrast with his public promises to fight the Supreme Court's decision."

"He's saying one thing to a group of folks in Marshalltown (Iowa), something totally different to a group of folks in Manhattan," said Huckabee spokesman Hogan Gidley. "Voters want someone they can trust. And it is painfully obvious at this point that Ted Cruz can't be trusted."

ABC Snooze doesn’t trust Cruz?

That’s another mark in his favor.

Trump and Cruz are both screwing up.

They are both starting to turn me off at this point.

Both of them need to CUT THE CRAP!

[Trump and Cruz are both screwing up.]

I agree. They need to stick to the principles that made their campaigns great.

It’s a campaign and they want to win. I may not like what they say but then I tell myself, it’s a campaign and move on.

Isn’t it ridiculous that all we have is Rubio or Cruz or Paul from the Senate? Bush can’t posture as an outsider. Trump is making hay as an outsider.

At some point though I have to draw lines. Cruz crossed the line with that voter grading crap. Trump crosses the line when he calls Cruz a liar for accurately repeating Trumps words.

Only each individual can make the trust call for themselves. I trust Cruz so far. I have lost trust for Rubio, Huckabee and Santorum (Santorum less so). I never actually trusted Trump, but the more I learn about him, the less I trust him. Bush is not so much a lack of trust as it is I disagree with him too broadly. Come to think of it, I don’t trust him either. I have been burned by two Bush’s already. Christie, eh, he is dishonest AND too liberal. Kasich, same as Christie, only with less likability.

I have no reason to distrust Carson but do disagree with him more than with Cruz.

My increased typos are due to a keyboard crash; had to dig up an old keyboard. This one takes more pressure and so sometimes when I strike the key, they letter still does not show up. Sorry for some previous posting problems.

I’m sure some will differ, but from where I sit it’s clear which side tried to stay on the high road and which side purposely steered it off into the muddy ditch.

Beck is a nut. So you are right that Cruz should have done without Tiny Tears.

I am a Trump supporter but it hurts me to see posts like this.

Perhaps Ted is veering off in the wrong direction. I’m not really paying attention because you know what? I only watch Trump rally s because they re the only ones that excite me and make me feel good.

Why don’t you just post stuff positive about Trump. The games over now. It’s all about Turnout and bummed out depressed people don’t turn out.

So ABC Nooze publishes an article attacking Cruz and headlines it "Cruz Facing Growing Attacks on Credibility"?

The attacks may be growing (i.e. ABC News just did one), but does that change the man's credibility, or just the number of attacks?

Did someone play "Let's Make a Deal" with ABC?

In other words, people supporting other candidates don’t like Cruz. Big shock. They smear him as an alternative to having a real argument.
