Ted’s probably too young to remember Reagan and Tip O’Neil.
Perhaps he wasn’t back in the states from Canada yet.
Poor Ted. He just doesn’t get it.
Even when it’s the opposition, you have to have a line of communication going.
Reagan had it with O’Neil, and Trump will have it with the top Democrats.
Who knew?
This is so juvenile.
Say Ted. How did that deal you worked out, fair?
Did threatening the residents of Iowa sound like a good deal?
You’re wrong. Mark Levin was in the Reagan admin. and explained how Reagan had no relationship with Tip O’Neill. He had to communicate with other elements of Congress who were more reasonable.
We also know Reagan cut some bad deals of his own, e.g. immigration. We need to learn from all the past mistakes.
Good observation.
One thing the Democrats have been really good at, is balkanizing America. Even if it takes luring a large hunk of the country much further left than any sane person would countenance. They believe in dividing to conquer, and they don’t really care what was spoiled as long as they get spoils.
The poor Republicans have been left as the suffering servants in this picture, trying to buffer the impact.
If — big fat IF — Donald can somehow short circuit this destructive demagoguery, perhaps by means of showing an overwhelming popular mandate, THEN he might be able to drag the Democrat half of the government, kicking and screaming, back into some zone of sanity. Because in the end, even venal politics ends up being sucking up to the one with the power. If it’s Donald, now he calls the shots.
Let’s not be too hasty to judge Donald’s deals till we find out where the dog is and where the tail is, in the deal. It might not be where we fear!
