Grow Up! How can anyone be for this spoiled brat?
The American Spectator ^ | 1/30/2016 | Thomas Sowell

Posted on 01/30/2016 1:19:04 PM PST by plewis1250

Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: “Grow up!”

It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man’s spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies.

"More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said: "Constitute government how you please, infinitely the greater part of it must depend upon the exercise of the powers which are left at large to the prudence and uprightness of ministers of state""

"In other words, the personal character of the people to whom you entrust the powers of government matters even more than what kinds of government institutions there are. There have been some good kings and some bad presidents, as well as vice versa."

“If you’re ok with a man like this, God help you on judgement day. When your daughters, granddaughters, nieces ldecide stripping is no big deal remember, neither do you. “

Would you ditch your candidate if I told you he went to a strip club sometime in his past?? Didn’t think so. Shut up about trump then.

Reagan proved himself twice in elected office as governor of our nation’s largest state twice. Reagan wrote and spoke very well and passionately about conservatism long before he ran for president. It’s very wrong to compare the dignified Reagan, a man who wouldn’t take off his suit coat in the Oval Office, to Trump, a man who brags about adultery.

Yup. And if it’s Trump vs Bernie then we’ll be able to settle a long argument.

Should America continue as a Judeo-Christian free capitalistic society or should it become a godless communist cesspool?

I know how I’ll be voting.

That is something so -common sense- that I am always surprised at things the consultant class thinks are fine ideas.
Show that to 10 random people on the street and ask their opinion. I bet 8 would be insulted.

Similarly, when I see Trump tweets, I always wonder who actually did them. It isn’t Trump with his iphone at 2 am doing that.

Politicians are a packaged product. Nothing less.

“I never believe the head of any effort doesn’t see everything. I personally have no doubt Cruz saw it.”

Maybe you’re right. But its just so out of touch with the way normal people would view it, that it’s amazing to me to think maybe he did and said to do it.

Ok, but we’re all going to be facing a big choice in November. If we allow Bernie or Hillary to win the presidency, we may be in for more than we bargained for sooner than anyone but Thomas Jefferson expected.

Keep your powder dry.

Sowell is off-base here. Trump is campaigning right now. Showmanship is essential. That counts in getting him elected, now and in the primary. It's ridiculous to be complaining about that -- especially when he's winning.

It matters how he will govern. He's a shrewd businessman, and he has skills will come in handy as President. He has enough of a record that I know he'll do well for conservatives on the issues that matter to us.

>> Reagan was in his late-20s, early 30s when he held liberal views <<

Not only that, because from his mid-40’s forward, Reagan spent decades writing essays and giving speeches extolling and explaining the values that genuine conservatives hold dear — not to mention his holding office for eight years as a successful Governor of California.

In particular, Reagan’s free-market and anti-statist philosophy was logically coherent, consistent over many years, and beautifully articulated. Any attempt to equate Reagan’s long history of conservative politics with Trump’s quick and questionable “conversion” would be risible if it weren’t so disgusting.

>> Trump is not worse than Clinton <<

Agreed, just as Spiro T. Agnew was not worse than Richard M. Nixon, and Huey P. Long was not worse than Benito J. Mussolini.

Ergo, by what seem to be the prevailing Trumpistic rules of logic, I guess Agnew and Long would have made great POTI.
