In his 2011 State of the Union address, President Obama predicted that there would be "a million electric vehicles on the road by 2015."
But only 382,176 plug-in electrified vehicles (PEVs) have been sold in the U.S. since 2008, according to Hybridcars.com. That's just 38 percent of Obama's one million vehicle goal.
And although auto sales in the U.S. were at an all-time-high last year with 17.47 million sold, electric vehicles actually lost market share, dropping from 3.47 percent of all vehicles sold in the U.S. to 2.87 percent, according to the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA).
Americans bought 9.7 percent more pickup trucks last year than in 2014, with Ford's F-Series remaining the top-selling vehicle for the ninth year in a row. 780,354 of them were sold in 2015, which was 14.6 percent more than the 753,851 Ford pickups sold in 2014. ...

Obama’s Legacy:
Fell Far Short
How many were “sold” to government entities? What a pathetic joke.
Ping.
Gee, I wonder why?........................I’m looking for a used Prius, myself....................
How used? You might want to price a battery pack, as well.
Mr Quota baby pea brain and science are not only not friends...they represent opposite ends of the Bell Curve.
In summary, Dorkbama the Muslim is a dumb sh*t.
He meant electric model cars. I’m waiting for a windmill powered VW to come out.
A huge number of them were sold around Atlanta as lease vehicles. Georgia had a $5000 tax credit on leased EVs, amounting to a free car for two years - a no brainer. GA missed so much revenue they recently cancelled the tax credit, and the EV market completely collapsed.
Like everything else the first Muslim says, that was just to kick the can forward to let time cement to concept of electric cars. He does that to allow the idea to become too embedded (financially) to back out.
Electric cars belong on the golf course and in senior communities.
Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
My wife bought a new Prius V about six months back.
I LOVE it, may very well move to up up to my best ever car, replacing my much loved GMC Suburban.Time will tell.
“Some people have expressed concern about how the Toyota Prius and its battery will hold up over time. Consumer Reports tested a second generation Prius with more than 200,000 ...”

I love the unintended consequences of the liberal feel good projects
The Prius gets a bad rep because of the libs who drive them, but it’s a great car—and it’s not a plug-in like the Volt.

A friend of mine leased a Nissan Leaf for $299/month when the Georgia tax credit was still in place. As you stated, it was essentially a taxpayer-financed giveaway.
Prius.
Whole Foods on wheels.
Already did check prices. Even with a new battery pack, the car I looked at would be worth it. 136k miles and it’s like new....................
I’m leasing a midrange Leaf for $325/mo. Love it. EVs are fantastic - so long as the battery holds up.
Alas, my lease will be done in a few months, Nissan wants nearly twice for it than I can get a used one elsewhere, and if I’m dropping $10-20k on a vehicle I’m getting a Jeep Wrangler instead.
