Way back in the 1950’s, my mother drilled it into me to remember that half of all doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class, and to remember that they put their pants on one leg at a time just like regular mortals, lol.

“There are 195,000 hospital deaths in the U.S. per year (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/11856.php) and 98,000 malpractice deaths a year in the U.S. (http://www.propublica.org/article/how-many-die-from-medical-mistakes-in-us-hospitals) a year, Doc. You are more dangerous than a gun. Get a clue.”

Great post. Please someone find this nimrod Dr’s Facebook or twitter and send him this.

“Write his name on the wall.”

Yep. We need a central registry of morons and tyrants. Does FR have a database?

Hope not to be banned, but what about the public health problems related to homosexual activity?

The gun grabbers have evidently gotten their new talking points. The chief issue now seems to be mental health and more specifically depression. What with this article along with countless others and the legislative push for depression testing for all adults.

Many people including presidential candidates are pushing the mental health angle, but historically that has been one of the primary tools used to confiscate guns.

Just wondering about VA docs. Can’t sue them unless they agree (I believe that’s the case)so are these just bottom feeders who want to avoid paying outrageous malpractice insurance?

Round here I have never heard of a Dr asking about firearms unless they are enthusiasts themselves and show sincere interest. I have some land that I lease to a Dr and his son during all waterfowl season.
I guess that is one of the benefits of living in a rural southern area.
But even if a bigcity yuppy Dr asked about my firearms, and I sensed anything other than just smalltalk, I would politely tell him thats none of his dagone business. If he persisted, I’d just walk out.
I don’t really see the problem. Just say “nunya bizness”.
Ask the Dr if his wife has any sex toys... how many... does any of his kids have red shoes... how much money does he have in the bank?

“There are 90 deaths due to firearms every day in the U.S., or more than 33,000 deaths a year.”

Which is absolutely a pittance compared with other, more easily preventable causes of death that doctors actually are supposed to be focusing on.

“Are physicians a public health threat?”

Perhaps if a physician is feeling depressed, they should give their medical license to a friend or family member to hold on to for them, just for a while...

I forget where I read it (could have been FR), but I read that in Nazi Germany the educated class that was more likely to go along with Hitler’s atrocities against humanity were doctors (more so than lawyers). Maybe lawyers prosper more under capitalism than fascism, idk.

Mr. RightField had to complete his annual Medicare wellness survey this week.
It's chock full of fun questions like,

"During the past four weeks have you been bothered by feeling down, depress, or hopeless", and

"How confident are you that you can get emotional support from sources other than your family or friends?",

"How confident are you that you can control any emotional distress or health problems you have so that they don't interfere with your everyday life and the things you want to do?"

and the ever popular
"Does your home have throw rugs, poor lighting or a slippery bathtub/shows?"

Yes, it’s clear that Obama has decided that the Soviet way is the best way of dealing with his enemies.

“Studies show there’s a significantly greater chance of that gun being used against you then it being used in self-defense.”

And those studies are pure Bull!

Those so called “studies” completely ignore the number of times a weapon is used to stop a crime without being fired.

Additionally, those motivated to suicide won’t stop just because they don’t have a gun.

The writer states a lie in the very first sentence. People who accept the first sentence are set up for the whole false premise of the article.

There are not “90 deaths due to firearms every day in the U.S.”

The writer also shows his lack of any objectivity because he does not mention any benefit of firearm ownership. None.

The whole article is propaganda.

“There are 90 deaths due to firearms every day”

This type of deliberate spin is a form of lying. Dr. BS is a liar and scoundrel, who opposes civil rights.

There are ZERO deaths “due to” inanimate objects. If a thug beats someone to death with a pipe, was the death “due to” the pipe, or the choices and actions of the thug? No one could be so stupid as to not know the answer.

How many of the 90 deaths are caused by Law Enforcement Officers?
How many are “due to” legitimate self-defense by crime victims?
How many of the 90 deaths are caused by “career” criminals?
Of the killers, how many were out on pre-trial bail for other crimes, or had been released early from jail or prison?
How many of the killers were in the US illegally?
How many of the 90 victims were themselves involved in criminal activity?

The answers to these questions show that the problem is criminality run rampant, especially in identifiable social groups. The solution is to control criminals and target the groups doing most of the crime. Criminals pose a MAJOR PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY.
