The Republicans Who Helped Obama Ruin the Country Support Donald Trump
The Resurgent ^ | January 27, 2016 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 01/28/2016 8:01:14 AM PST by GodGunsGuts

Let us not be naive or willfully ignorant about what is happening. Donald Trump has a far longer history of affiliation with Democrats and Democrat causes than he does conservative, populist, or Republican causes. See him and hear him for yourself in his own words. Even in the first debate of Campaign 2016, Trump supported government run, Canadian style universal healthcare. There is no difference between his position on that and Bernie Sanders’ position.

Trump has long supported abortion rights. He has called for higher taxes and gun control. He has defended Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi. Donald Trump funded the Democrats against the tea party in 2012 and the establishment Republicans against the conservatives in 2014.

Now in 2016, the Republican consultant class and RINOs in Washington are lining up behind Donald Trump. They are doing so to stop the only guy who has put points on the board against them — Senator Ted Cruz. But it is not just Cruz. These Republican consultants and elected officials are lining up behind Trump over Senator Marco Rubio. In fact, the Republicans who most aggressively support expansive immigration and open borders are rallying to Trump, not Rubio.

Trump supporters are deluding themselves through blind rage and emotion. The guys in Washington know that Trump, who just last year supported universal healthcare and two years ago supported Mitch McConnell against conservatives, can be reasoned with in a way Cruz cannot.

This should be a damning indictment against Donald Trump in Campaign 2016. The very Republicans who have collaborated with Barack Obama to grow the national debt, keep immigration expansive, fund Planned Parenthood, and fund Obamacare are on Team Trump against Ted Cruz.

Vote for Cruz because nobody is for him!

Now that’s not true! The dog likes him as long as you tie a pork chop around his neck.

“Trump supporters are deluding themselves through blind rage and emotion.”
This is rich coming from Erick.
He was the leader of the pack of the hyperventilating Trump haters.
What a hypocrite.

Trump is NOT the Uniparty.

While I am a Cruz supporter and not in favor of Trump, the options were are, in this order:

Uniparty or Not?

Trump or Cruz?

The key to this election is the defeat of the Uniparty. Everything we hold dear as conservatives is attacked and undermined by the Uniparty. To ever defeat the Uniparty, we must first defeat them within the Republican Party.

Trump does that. It may be ugly. It may be populism. It may be unpredictable. Trump may gore our ox 50% of the time, and the other guy’s ox 50% of the time.

But the Uniparty is killing us 100% of the time.

So quit thinking Trump is the end of the world. He is a half-measure when we’ve currently got nothing.

It was probably not there before I started planning, typing, and reviewing my response. That said, I said “virtually”, meaning “practically all”. Look at the vast majority (”virtually all”) Trump supporter’s responses.

The establishment types are aligning with Trump because they're worried about losing their jobs once he takes office.

There are no facts in this.

The article mentions that Trump came out in support of government-run healthcare in the first debate.

Trump made the statement a long five months ago, but it still counts as a fact.

The republican pundits either do not get it or purposely ignoring facts.

Trump is leading for only one reason. Hard working middle class has been devastated by all career politicians. Without exception, all career politicians are pushing the cheap labor express. Export middle class factory jobs to cheap labor countries and import cheap foreign labor.

The career politicians, sadly, have no choice. Their ultra-rich donors control them, every one of them, even the constitutional conservative senator Cruz.

Why does the swing for the GOPe (the establishment) to support Trump make sense? The GOPe find both Cruz AND Trump distasteful due to both candidates’ aggressive methodology. However, of the two, the GOPe knows they will get more of the same policy out of Trump, so they will hold their nose.

Why do I say this? Because history is telling, and Trump’s history tells anyone paying attention that he is NOT a conservative. The GOPe knows this and is taking this knowledge to the bank.

So, if you want someone who will stick it to the GOPe while actually governing as a conservative, vote Cruz. Simple as that.

I don’t think that’s what’s happening. The GOPe knows that they can cede Iowa to someone like Cruz and still end up with their candidate. They did it 2008 with Huckabee. They did in 2012 with Santorum. They have the calendar set up to minimize the impact of the early and Southern states on the delegate count, whereas later in the calendar there are bigger states with winner-take-all elections.

So they’re looking at Iowa with Cruz and Trump on top. If Trump wins, he runs the table from there. If Cruz wins, Cruz doesn’t have a path to the nomination, and thus, it’s then wide open for Rubio, Bush, Kasich, etc. It’s just strategic, use Cruz to take out Trump, then take out Trump.
