Cruz Super PACs Offer $1.5 Million for Veterans if Donald Trump Will Debate Him One-on-One In Iowa
Breitbart ^ | 1/27/2016 | Matthew Boyle

A pair of pro-Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)Super PACs just offered $1.5 million for veterans if Donald Trump will debate Cruz one-on-one in Iowa before Sunday evening. Keep The Promise I and Keep The Promise II offered up the sizable donation for America's veterans on Wednesday evening. The principal donors of Keep the Promise I, the Mercer family, and Keep the Promise II, the Neugebauer family, in a joint statement released Wednesday evening said:

Senator Cruz and Mr. Trump both respect the veterans and hold them in the highest regard but Senator Cruz respects the process and we are calling on Mr. Trump to do the same and debates are the purest form of democracy. Iowans - and Americans - deserve to hear from the frontrunners in this 'two-man race' one last time. Not only would this be a heck of a debate, but it would also be a terrific opportunity to generate millions of dollars for the veterans.

The press release made clear the parameters of the pro-Cruz Super PACs' offer: The debate must be between just Trump and Cruz, must take place on or before Sunday Jan. 31 in Iowa, must be one-hour long, and the candidates can pick a jointly-agreed-to moderator themselves.

The two organizations said in a press release:

In response to Senator Ted Cruz's challenge of a one-on-one debate, the principal donors of the Keep the Promise I and II super PACs are offering presidential candidate Donald Trump a truly fantastic deal, pledging to donate $1.5 million to charities committed to helping veterans if Mr. Trump agrees to debate Senator Cruz in Iowa. This money is in addition to the millions of proceeds available to the veterans as a share of the revenues that this debate could secure from a host network.

But one could easily make the same argument about Trump. If he’s so concerned about the vets, why didn’t he hold fund-raisers for them during every debate he attended?

There is much to admire about Trump’s approach to this campaign, but he seems quick to wrap himself in other people’s bravery - FDNY over “New York Values” and veterans now - when he is challenged. Cruz’s super PACs are simply calling Trump’s bluff.

It’s too bad,Cruz is a viable candidate but Trump just overshadows him.

Donald will run the clock out. Why dick around with Ted. Fourth quarter with 3 minutes on the clock with a 9 point lead. See ya Ted.

Yup. Also, I like the Debate in Canada idea. What is wrong with that?

Cruz’s best bet is to take notes this time around and start preparing for a future harvest on the field Trump plowed for him.

“Why didn’t he hold fund-raisers during every debate he attended?”
Fund-raisers and debates are two separate and distinct things.Tonight Trump is doing a fund-raiser,he would have been doing a debate but the treachery of Fox News killed that.

What, specifically, did Trump “bluff” about concerning debating Cruz? What did Trump bluff about concerning personally giving the vets $1.5 million dollars that has to do with Cruz’s Super PAC?

Trump made no bluff about any of this, so there is no hand to call.

Pure coattail publicity stunt.

Just as PAC funds and veterans’ charities are two separate things.

If one political organization (Cruz’s super PAC) is not credible because it offers money to a charity under particular circumstances, then the next political organization (Trump and his campaign) is similarly not credible for doing the same thing.

“Cruz Super PACs Offer $1.5 Million for Veterans if Donald Trump Will Debate Him One-on-One In Iowa,”

Oh for crying out loud, will this troll just STFU!

“I wanna debate! I wanna debate!!!”

You did it 6 times!

You want to debate so bad, then fly back to DC and go back to your day job in the Senate. Offer up some more stuff to get voted down.

Why would Trump bother debating someone who may not even be eligible to run/hold office?

I’m sure Trump will truly hold a fundraiser and will truly give the funds. The bluff is that he cares so much about the vets, when in reality he’s just looking for a way to monopolize the spotlight. The “coattail publicity stunt” is Trump hanging on the uniform coattails of brave men and women.

If he really cares about them then surely he will give an hour of his time Sunday night in a debate, when he has such a stellar debating record already, in order to provide an additional $1.5 million to their needs.

Trump should agree. With the stipulation that Cruz proves he’s eligible to be president first.

I doubt if Trumps agreement with the RNC allows that. Cruz? Don’t know if he has one.

Trump isn’t going to let Cruz dictate to him what he should do Cruz is just making feeble attempts now. At one point, I hoped he would be Trump’s VP. Not gonna happen now.

“If he really cares about them then surely he will give an hour of his time Sunday night in a debate,”

Why do you care?

Cruz has a chance to show the world how brilliant he is without Trump TODAY.

Apparently this isnt about Cruz, but the desperate need to get Trump.

You had 6 other debates. One was just 2 weeks ago! And Cruz tanked on that one.

So just get over it. We dont need #7 because Ted is desperate.
