Donald Trump: Thin-Skinned Tyrant
National Review ^ | January 28, 2016 | ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

Posted on 01/28/2016 6:00:20 AM PST by reaganaut1

Is Donald Trump the sharia of American politics? I'm having trouble finding much daylight between Islamic law's repressive blasphemy standards and the mogul's thin-skinned sense of privilege.

None of us wants to be insulted or smeared. But sharia forbids not only ridicule or slander against Islam; it bans any examination that casts Islam in an unflattering light. Worse, truth is not a defense: Even if one's questions are based on undeniable past actions or verbatim quotes from scripture, tough questioning is considered blasphemous. Retribution, moreover, is often completely out of proportion to the scale of the perceived "offense."

How is Trump different?

They say politics ain't beanbag: People in and around it eventually get slammed by opponents and other critics. But to Trump, the mildest criticisms are "vicious" attacks.

Let's take the exchange last summer with Megyn Kelly that prompted Trump to whine that he was unfairly treated and to heap abuse on Ms. Kelly in the aftermath. (Before I go on, note that I support Mr. Trump's rival Ted Cruz, and that I am on friendly terms with Megyn Kelly, on whose program I periodically appear.) Given the limited time, the slew of candidates to engage, and the grave problems faced by the country, could Kelly have made a better choice than to grill Trump on his derogatory remarks about women? As they say in the debate biz, that's debatable. But the questions she asked were hardly irrelevant..

So the argument is that Trump should be a good little Republican and allow the media to demean and marginalize him just like all good Republicans do?

If you agree with this stance, you just enjoy being a martyr and losing all the time. I expect my candidates to fight, not lie down and take it.

If for some reason Trump failed to get the nomination and Cruz was the nominee, I will pull the lever for Cruz, and do so with enthusiasm.

I feel the same way, although Cruz is my first choice. The antics displayed by newly registered Trump concern trolls has dampened my enthusiasm recently.

It's a no brainer against the Democrat, though.

Nice, utterly useless ad hominem attack on those who have legitimate concerns about Trump.

Way to divert the attention from the fact that Trump is very squishy when it comes to talking about actual policies and principles.

To his credit though, he is pretty good with those zingers against those who offend him.

Conservatism is DEAD and so is REAGAN!

Sadly "conservatism" died on Jan 20, 1989... Reagan's last day in political office.

No one practices "conservatism" anymore. Take a look around the political landscape, they have all succumbed to the ideology of DUPING THE CITIZENS, both parties. To the point where the country is going down the tubes at warp speed because of PRIMARILY TWO THINGS.....

1. LOSS OF JOBS (lower standard of living)

2. OPEN BORDERS (* see above)

BEYOND the above there is NOTHING ELSE THAT's more important if we're going to survive as the nation we once used to be.

IDEOLOGY is not as important now as getting the ABOVE TWO points turned around.

ALL OF YOU CRUZ MANIACS are unintentionally WISHING for things to JUST HAPPEN if we elect him. He has NO PROVEN RECORD of being able to GET ANYTHING DONE!

Sorry, that is too much of a risk to take at this point.

* * * * * ......TRUMP 2016 ....* * * * * *

“Confirming that to her and other Trumpeters it doesn’t matter what position Trump held yesterday”

“Its politics. Nobody will even remember it in a month.”

That just happens to be a truism in politics.

“Confirming that to her and other Trumpeters”

How can one person’s opinion “confirm” anything other than that that person’s opinion? And, your opinion does not constrain reality.

Trump mentioned several times the bizarre FOX satirical “press release”. We are talking about a “news” channel that released a fake press statement on the eve of a debate, mocking just one of the candidates.
___________________________________________________________

The king of rude, mocking Tweets is offended that someone dare send a sarcastic message about him skipping the debate. The fact that anyone supports this clown is proof positive that the world has gone mad.

For the record, Trump threatened to skip the debate because Megyn Kelly was moderating, hence the sarcasm from Fox. Trump then claiming it was the Fox press release shows that he is either 1) a liar or 2) living in an alternate reality. He is a liar, demonstrably so. His supporters, however, live in an alternate reality.

Today Trump is passing around a meme on Twitter.

It has Megyn Kelly photoshopped with Al Waleed, and saying he is co-owner of FOX.

Except, the picture and the meme are false.

What an absolute tools people who re-tweet this stuff are.

What a mockery he is making of you Trump supporters with this stuff. You should hold him to a higher standard.

And now, I expect angry replies, "Fake, but accurate!" or something.

There is a difference in being thin skinned and being a leader that doesn’t take crap from enemies or opponents.

Apart from the specific application of the statement, it should be memorized:

But sharia forbids not only ridicule or slander against Islam; it bans any examination that casts Islam in an unflattering light. Worse, truth is not a defense: Even if one’s questions are based on undeniable past actions or verbatim quotes from scripture, tough questioning is considered blasphemous. It’s trump or Hillary

No one but trump can bust through the media which fawns over Hillary to the extent that the fbi is crawling through her stuff four years after she betrayed her state department staff to death finding evidence that she used her head of state dept position to secure bribes from foreign enemies and she is the likely front runner for pres with her own media

Hillary has the media jumping through hoops. Always has.

People want a conservative for president. Ok. What conservative is going to break through a media which does this for the dem candidate

If Rick Santorum or tedcruz an do it fine

Ted cruz’s whiny hall monitor voice in this climate is it. One slip of the I don’t consider New York part of whom I would be governing tongue disqualifies him

What do people think we’re dealing with.

Hillary is all about being vindictive. It’s hoe she runs the media.
Just duh. Connie Chung comes to mind. Gone without a trace a day after getting newt gingriches mother to talk about Hillary in terms of being a bitch. Then there was thedavid letterman episode

Trump is being vindictive against the vindictive middle school minded Megyn jelly. Whoever truly cares about this let us know

Nice, utterly useless ad hominem attack on those who have legitimate concerns about Trump.

"legitimate concerns" = their minds are already made up.

Who are you trying to kid? It's an easy knee-jerk reaction to wave that 'ad hominem' flag when something hits close to home.

Go ahead and line up with the GOPe, they'll appreciate you.

McCarthy apparently believes that a non-traditional approach to politics is the same as imposing sharia law.

Did you read the whole article? Because if you did, you would have read line upon line demonstrating Trump's consistent inconsistency.

Trump is the Best Shapeshifter Ever.

Wake up!
