Donald Trump: Thin-Skinned Tyrant
National Review ^ | January 28, 2016 | ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

Posted on 01/28/2016 6:00:20 AM PST by reaganaut1

Is Donald Trump the sharia of American politics? I'm having trouble finding much daylight between Islamic law's repressive blasphemy standards and the mogul's thin-skinned sense of privilege.

None of us wants to be insulted or smeared. But sharia forbids not only ridicule or slander against Islam; it bans any examination that casts Islam in an unflattering light. Worse, truth is not a defense: Even if one's questions are based on undeniable past actions or verbatim quotes from scripture, tough questioning is considered blasphemous. Retribution, moreover, is often completely out of proportion to the scale of the perceived "offense."

How is Trump different?

They say politics ain't beanbag: People in and around it eventually get slammed by opponents and other critics. But to Trump, the mildest criticisms are "vicious" attacks.

Let's take the exchange last summer with Megyn Kelly that prompted Trump to whine that he was unfairly treated and to heap abuse on Ms. Kelly in the aftermath. (Before I go on, note that I support Mr. Trump's rival Ted Cruz, and that I am on friendly terms with Megyn Kelly, on whose program I periodically appear.) Given the limited time, the slew of candidates to engage, and the grave problems faced by the country, could Kelly have made a better choice than to grill Trump on his derogatory remarks about women? As they say in the debate biz, that's debatable. But the questions she asked were hardly irrelevant..

One LITTLE omission from McCarthy: As Rush pointed out yesterday, Fox’s mission was to take down Trump during that debate.

Megyn Kelly’s attitude when she asked that question, which was the first question, which was designed to play to the “first impression” imprint common to the human mind, and which was designed to tarnish Trump for the remainder of the debate and to tarnish him in the minds of the voters; all in all this angle by a Cruz supporter portraying himself as an objective commentator on Trump is pathetic and deceptive.

Andrew McCarthy has shown himself to be as devious as he looks.

“At this point, The Donald could change his name to Donito Trumpolini, and his fans would stand and cheer louder.”

You’ve got it all wrong. Even Trump’s enemies, who have a lick of good sense, respect Trump for his skill in disarming his critics and enemies.

So don’t vote for him and keep reading that pseudo conservative rag, the National Review. You and those who work there are about the only readers they have anyway.

yeah, i’m not known to go easy on trump, to say the least, but this is a weak argument.

fox is (at least in theory) an opinion/talk show. so if they beat up on the same guy over and over, why would he play by their rules?

after 47 debates, i’m not watching tonight. what am i going to find out that i dont know already.

would have watched if trump was on for the theatrics. that’s about it.

i’ll vote Cruz and if he loses i’ll vote trump in the generals and he’ll beat hillary easily.

it’s that simple.

So what does that make the RNC for blowing off an entire network; a bit hypocritical in my book.

Yesterday a Trumpeter replied to me with :

Quote :'Its politics. Nobody will even remember it in a month. Well maybe you'

Confirming that to her and other Trumpeters it doesn't matter what position Trump held yesterday, or what he said yesterday, its what he says today that only counts.
Just like tomorrow it wont matter what he said today

All that matters is it works, it resonates with some small % of people in the US that puts him higher than the others in GOP polls. Thats all that matters to them.

What would he really do as nominee or as POTUS???

Irrelevant! This is TV and Twitter. Its just another TV show. The show goes on.

I guess you have no logical or coherent response to the article by Andy McCarthy, do you?

Just spam.

Sad really.

McCarthy apparently believes that a non-traditional approach to politics is the same as imposing sharia law.

I thought McCarthy was intelligent, once. Insulting those that you seek to persuade is rarely a smart idea.

He is exactly what is needed to rectify the the insane politically correct, rub my back I’ll rub yours, attitude that exists in this country. I want someone who does what he thinks is right even if it tees off half the populace. Best selling point, in my opinion, is that he is and has not been a politician. He will be a leader, not a follower of special interest money like what we have now or like what we will have if that “what difference does it make” person.

My thoughts, exactly. Trump acts like a Republican(?) clone of Obama. He’s thin skinned, petulant, vengeful, inconsistent, and has the media wrapped around his finger.
