Personally, I don't think it is working this time. The old methods of the power elites will not work with a black swan event.
Donald Trump is a political black swan event. We will all benefit by a liberation from the elitist occupation.

I doubt that even most of the players in the ongoing drama know what a "black swan" event is.

We can certainly assume that most of the hysterical FR posters, and certainly all the GOPe elected criminals are either likely to be totally oblivious of the concept or pretend to be.

How could their control have lasted so long, and be so profitable and be brought down by someone totally unthreatening just a few months ago?

The only remaining "we all should have seen it coming" can't be too far in the future now.

I agree, however to be fair some astute FReepers called it. Pat Buchanan saw it coming. I don't think he saw who it was.

“So you’re happy he’s not going to be in the debate? You think it’s a negative for him to stay out of the debate?”

On one hand, I think the debate will be more productive because we won’t be bogged down in Kelly-Trump war. On the other had it’s bad because Trump is a prime contender and the people need to know where he is on the questions asked.

I agree with Trump, that Megyn Kelly was out to get him in that first debate. But Trump got the best of her and surged in the polls afterwards. Megyn Kellys Facebook page was overwhelmed with criticsim. So I ask, why wouldn’t Trump want to face her again for round two? He benefited greatly from round one.

As a whole, the whole thing is a disgrace. This country is in serious trouble. We have had horrific leadership in the congress and the White House for a very long time. It is vital we elect the right President this time. But instead of a focus on the issues, we have this shit show between Fox News and Trump. A total clash of egos on both sides. Meanwhile the nation burns.

For a while I was considering voting for Trump (after the first debate and into the fall) even though I concerns about his liberalism. But I liked that he was talking about things and that he was taking on the media head on. I liked that was going after the Clintons for their criminal behavior. I was hoping for a Trump-Cruz ticket. But as I watched Trump, he began to strike me as being more hung up on himself. He began to stray from the issues more and more and seems more focused on how great he is (lot of talk about how big his rallies are, how many books he’s sold, how much people love him, etc.) and I have a hard time taking him seriously because now the whole thing seems to be about him and not the country.

When he went after Ted Cruz with a meat ax, that did it for me. There was no way I could support a man with a spotty political history that was attacking a proven conservative. Trump says Cruz is nasty. Trump is the nasty one. He once praised Ted Cruz for his fights in the Senate, now he belittles him as a man the establishment hates. He makes no sense.

So that’s where I am and how I got there.

I think the reason is obvious. How do you feel about the media having TOJO question Roosevelt during the election in late September, 1944?

Must you be a conservative ideologue to enforce an immigration policy that’s already in place?

Must you be a conservative ideologue to build a wall on the southern border that’s already been voted on and approved by congress?

You want to know how you get rid of illegals? You enforce e-verify and watch them leave on their own when they can’t get jobs or welfare.

By the same token, you tell the sanctuary cities that they’ll receive no more federal funding until they start complying with existing immigration laws.

You tell the states they’ll receive no welfare or medicaid funding until they weed their enrollments of illegal immigrants, including their dependents.

Many illegals run afoul of the law. When someone has a police contact via arrest and they can’t prove legal resident status, you deport them, or hold them for trial then decide whether to imprison or deport them.

We’ll need a big beautiful door on that big beautiful wall to handle the traffic headed SOUTH if he implements just the things I’ve outlined above.

Think he won’t? Do you think he’s going to break the promise he’s based his entire campaign on? I don’t think so.

He’s stated on numerous occasions that he wants clean air and water but that the EPA is running amok with strangling regulations.

He states at every one of his rallies that there will be no infringements on the 2nd amendment and he wants federal recognition of CCW laws.

What state rights do you fear he’ll violate?

I see you on thread after thread spouting the same FUD but you never offer any specifics. Either come up with some or STFU.

And you would bet what on this?

I see Trump as our Julius Caesar

I drew that parallel myself earlier this week. Populism was what killed the Roman Republic, and Caesar was the final nail in its coffin. On the flip side, the Roman Empire that rose from the ashes of the Republic stood for hundreds of years as THE superpower that had literally everything. I'm not saying that I'd like to see the USA go that way, but it could be worse.

From (and including) our founding as a nation, we have paralleled Rome in many, MANY ways. I'm actually proud of that.

And without a single Republican senator voting for 0b0lacare, Cruz and his heroic filibuster couldn’t persuade a single Dem senator to vote against it and it passed.

Now there’s a leader for you.

There is far more hate slug by the Trumpsters than pro Cruz folks. It reminds me how the lefty loonies act when they don’t like what they hear.

Even Hillary doesn’t run from a debate. She does collude with the DNC to schedule debates on Sunday evenings opposite NFL playoff football games. But even she doesn’t duck and run four days before voting begins.

Not a chance. The scorched earth tactics used by Trump and you his blind supporters on rightfully skeptical conservatives have guaranteed that. Mutually assured destruction is only a deterrent until one party presses the button. Trump has gone nuclear. The 59% of Republican primary voters that do not choose Trump will respond in kind if he manages to secure the Republican nomination with a plurality of the vote. I for one certainly will never vote for this egonmaniacal carnival barker. He has himself and you Trumpettes to thank for that.

Yep. And the Republican nomination is today’s project. His statements are negotiation. You cannot extend today’s Trump statements to what he would do as President either. He is a New York Democrat at heart.

Why are you letting Democrats decide who your candidate should be?

Funny how while Trump was donating to Democrats, he never once used his “power of the purse” to make any Democrat vote against Obamacare. And you call this a patriot? He had the money to influence Democrats and as far as we know, never once pushed to get any conservative policy passed. All he did was work out real estate deals to line his own pockets. This is your hero or savior? Trump has never been fighting for our values. He is only fighting to win the presidency to satisfy his own ego.

I do not understand the Trump haters or the Cruz haters at all. Trump could self-destruct as a candidate (most likely cause - given his age of 69 years - a sudden health issue), as could Ted Cruz. Even Ben Carson went from a hero to all Americans (even democrats) and a leading contender to a footnote in this campaign - attacked viciously by the left in their usual fearful politics of destruction. We need a backup candidate, regardless of how much we love our first choice.

My first choice is Ted Cruz, and my backup is Trump. I don’t have to pretend Trump is almost as bad as Jeb “Act of Love” Bush to be comfortable supporting Cruz. Trump is so much better that the comparison would be absurd. I would hope Trump supporters would be comfortable with their choice even without pretending Cruz is just another mainstream politician bought and paid for by his donors. Cruz is so different from mainstream insiders of both parties that the comparison is absurd.

Let’s lighten up and support the candidates (plural) with the best answers on today’s critical issues. It’s okay for 55% of FR to prefer Trump over Cruz, and it’s okay for 45% of FR to prefer Cruz over Trump. That choice will be sorted out at the polls, and we’ll be left with the best and most electable of the two.
