Right Scoop ^ | Jan 27, 2016

WASHINGTON (CNN) - At least one veteran's group doesn't want any donations from Donald Trump's fundraiser for veterans. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America founder Paul Rieckhoff tweeted Wednesday that he would decline any contributions that came from the event, which Trump has proposed in place of his attending Fox News' debate this week.

Trump has set up a Veterans and Wounded Warrior account for all of the donations like I send in, $5.00 whatever, that is where this money goes to....

In one of his rallies a couple of months ago, he walked off stage into the audience and talked with a Wounded Warrior who was in a wheel chair...Trump was able to help this Warrior by the donations that people like me send in...

This money will go to that account...

He has supported vets for years. When I did some research recently, he paid for 4 funerals when the gov’t said no. He has donated an untold amount to different veterans groups.

When is this thing going to be most visible?

When will more people see it and be moved to support the Vets?

You have to choose your battles.

Dumping on Trump for doing this, is a lost cause.

It will benefit the vets and FoxNews will be the big loser, exactly as it should be.

If Trump gets half his first audience to tune in to the fundraiser and they all give $1.00, that’s $12 million dollars.

If they each give $10, that’s $120 million dollars.

Okay, I guess we should cancel it. Good call... /s

Wounded Warriors is also a scam. Donate to the DAV, American Legion, VVA, or VFW. Not a one of their directors get paid a dime or the advocates. Every dime they get goes to veterans in need.

LISTEN UP !!!

The article above makes it clear that this group has NOT been offered any donations by Trump and has NOT even been mentioned by him or his staff or CNN as a recipient.

Just another anti-Trump organization head looking for his 15 minutes of infamy while using his vets organization to unload a multitude of body slams against Mr. Trump....one of the most generous and philanthropic (and veterans-loving) people of our time.

Was any money even going to be offered to this group?Or did Rieckhoff just decide it was a good time to run his mouth?

I hope some poor trooper who needs therapy or a home aide doesn’t go without so this guy can make his political point.

It appears to be a relatively small group...

Won't jump on the bandwagon - what a sh8thead.

Military service[edit]

Rieckhoff enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve on September 15, 1998 and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama.[2] He then served in the U.S. Army Reserve, as a specialist with the 812th Military Police Company. While working on Wall Street in 1999, Rieckhoff transferred to the New York Army National Guard. He graduated from Officer Candidate School in June 2001 and was named a Distinguished Military Graduate. Rieckhoff selected infantry as his branch and joined A Company, 1-105th Infantry (Light).

Rieckhoff left Wall Street on September 7, 2001 with plans to travel and complete additional military schooling. On the morning of September 11, Rieckhoff was at his apartment in Manhattan when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. He participated in the rescue efforts at ground zero.[3] His unit was formally activated for rescue and security operations later that evening.

In 2002, Rieckhoff volunteered for the invasion of Iraq. In January of that year, he was on a plane to join the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Rieckhoff was then assigned as a platoon leader in the 3-124th Infantry (Air Assault) of the Florida Army National Guard. The unit was attached to 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division and spent almost a year conducting combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq. Third Platoon conducted over 1,000 dismounted and mounted combat patrols. All thirty-eight of the men in Rieckhoff's platoon returned home alive.

Rieckhoff was awarded a United States Army Commendation Medal for his service in Iraq.[5]

Maybe IAVA is afraid of the scrutiny that the Trump organization put them through before they got any money.

That’s true. It was an attempt to coral all Trump’s possible donors, take advantage of a man doing something for a good cause, and redirect those funds to his own group.

to cite a single group out of hundredes for refusing money....that isn’t even offered to them, because it gives you an opportunity to bash Trump?

Classic display of Hypocrisy!

I didn’t cite anything. I said Trump makes a mistake when he uses veterans as political props. That’s my opinion and I don’t much care whether anybody agrees or not.
