Pope Benedict? He did abstain from endorsements of candidates or parties --- and he was right to abstain, that's just what a cleric shouldn't get into --- but he did speak out on issues of faith and morals which had both personal and political aspects.

I do miss Benedict. The best pope in my lifetime, in my opinion.

Oh my. We are certainly on different sides this week....WHICH NEVER happens in 10 years I have been here. Ok Benedict was probably ok but I can't stand how he ruined the Mass. I went to Catholic School from K-12 and learned the Mass inside out and upside down and now he totally screwed up the words which angers me a lot. Oh it all angers many of my classmates (when we discuss it on Facebook). We had 209 in my high school graduation class and we still get together annually in the summer and trust me this has been brought up. What about the students who got points taken off for not knowing the old version of the Mass? Do they get their points back since Benedict decided to arbitrarily change the Mass. I hope Francis changes it back. The Mass flowed better the old way. By the way, I went to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School and Allentown Central Catholic. So getting Francis was exciting for us because of what he represents (St. Francis that is). Anyway have a great day.

I agree-Pope Benedict was the best in my lifetime, too-I would be beyond happy if he led the Church again.
