Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. This sound aphorism may have a less pithy political corollary: Never attribute to strategy what can be explained by emotion.
Only this truth can help us understand why Republican officials have started saying they prefer Donald Trump to Senator Ted Cruz as their presidential nominee. Congressional Republicans would supposedly come out ahead with Trump because he would be a stronger nominee and a more cooperative president.
These arguments are so weak that they can be understood only as rationalizations for a passionate hatred of Cruz felt by Republicans whom he has challenged. Iâm a friend of Cruz, but you need not be one to see that anger is leading the officials to make a mistake -- or, rather, three of them.
First, these Republicans are wrong

“Heâs doing a bit worse than Cruz in head-to-head polling matchups with Hillary Clinton, and much worse in polls that measure whether voters view the candidates favorably or unfavorably”
Like the above quote as well.
Yeah, that’s just what we need, and coming from some “Transplanted Elephant Driver” from India or Bangladesh. Sheesh Texans, you’ve allowed your media to be polluted by these fifth colmn foreign turds. What gives?
Since when does favoring Trump mean you “hate Cruz”? Too many are infected with the clinically dysfunctional “all or nothing” thinking. They’re either “all good” or “all bad”. That is kindergarten stuff.
I don’t hate Cruz, I just like Trump better right now. I wish Cruz would be his VP and become President in eight years. Sixteen years of recovery and then some if things go right.
And BTW, IMO, I’ve seen a lot more vitriol towards Trump coming from those who favor Cruz than visa-versa.
Since WHEN does preferring someone else translate into hating the one ?
English is a pretty good language if people would learn it and make the corrections the unlearned and the usurpers attempt to foist on us.
Ramesh Ponnuru doesn’t support Trump.
They drive elephants in Kansas?
Or should just ahead and re-register as dhimmicrats.
You canât reason people out of a view that they didnât reason themselves into.
People who don’t love and appreciate America need a reality check.
Oh please.
Teddy has proven himself that he’s nothing but a narcissist (and a lying one) with a Messiah complex. He’d go full LibTard if he thought it would get him elected.
Contrary to your statement, there are lots of republicans who hate Cruz. The poster wasn’t saying that “preferring someone else” equates to hate... he was referencing the FACT that a lot of the GOPe hate and despise Cruz...which is 100% true.
You need to figure that out.
I've never seen anything on video nor in print that indicates "hate"

Isn’t that what papa Cruz ingrained into him?
Ruler of the world or some such thing.
Cruz blew it last night. He came across as a dweeb.
I like Cruz. He’s my #2.
Make sure you watch the show this Thursday on CNN, and donate to the Wounded Warriors.
Which Republicans hate Cruz? His co-workers in DC.
‘There is no hatred on earth like that for someone who possesses a virtue you do not have, or want. It is the mirror that shows you what you are, and obliges you to see it.’

Texas has had people coming here from all over the world seeking freedom for several years now. Many of them appreciate Texas better than some who were born here. Especially those nasty Austinites.
