Cruz petitions for face-off with 'Ducking Donald'

Taunting Donald Trump for being “afraid of Megyn Kelly,” Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is comparing Trump to the second-most famous Donald: Donald Duck.

Cruz, who earlier Tuesday challenged Trump to a one-on-one debate, is petitioning supporters to sign on for a face-off between the two leading GOP contenders.

“If Donald Trump is afraid of Megyn Kelly, then Ted Cruz is willing to debate ‘Ducking Donald’ one-on-one,” Cruz’s campaign wrote on its website.

“Ted Cruz is willing to stand up defend his record, anytime, any place. Why isn't Ducking Donald?”

There are rules against this. Perhaps Ted forgot about that. He seems to forget a bunch of stuff.

I’m a Cruz supporter and I don’t like this. A one-on-one debate would be useful but the juvenile name-calling is stupid coming from both sides. Ted had held himself above this and I’m disappointed that he lowered himself to this level.

“Ted Cruz is willing to stand up defend his record, anytime, any place. Why isn’t Ducking Donald?”

Trump’s gambit was beautiful, but left him open to this counterpunch.

Better that Trump open himself up to a counterpunch than a debate in which Cruz gives him a knockout blow.

I love the quality of play. Both of these guys are stupendous strategists.

Hasn’t anyone bothered to tell this “brilliant” person this, or is uncle Levin feeding lines to him, so he can pretend to be a tough guy?

“Better that Trump open himself up to a counterpunch than a debate in which Cruz gives him a knockout blow.”

Let me see now, 6 debates and 7 months of campaigning and he hasn’t laid a glove on Trump yet.

Munchkin Cruz is at 11%. Trump is at 40%. Cruz you got the other munchkins to debate tomorrow. There’s your debate.

Cruz seems to be doing a pretty good jobs of ducking himself. Ducking his shady campaign loans. Ducking his Canadian citizenship, ducking his super PAC ties...

Ducking Donald is about to have his feathers plucked. What a smack in the face of Iowa voters. He’s going down!

I hope this is just political posturing,
because these two need to be P & VP, regardless of who is who.

It was never the point to punch Trump previously. Trump and Cruz were jointly winnowing the field. Last debate, Cruz (arguably) took out Rubio (see poll results thereafter).

This debate is the one in which Cruz, having cleared the field, should take his shot at Trump. I’m quite sure he had his lines long since memorized; probably since last SPRING.

But Trump sidestepped. Ya gotta love that strategy.

Underdogs always beg for debates because it puts them on the same level as the front runners.

Front runners always ignore them.

Cruz totally on the wrong side of another major issue with Americans. (un?)Trust in media.

He should be boycotting the debate with Trump on grounds of bias. Simple as that.

I would love to see it. Both are master debaters in two highly dissimilar genres. I can’t see Trump agreeing unless he can score a publicity gain. He doesn’t really care how the debate would be scored. There is no bad publicity for Trump.
