Cruz: Trump afraid to defend his record
The Hill ^ | January 27, 2016, 07:52 am | Mark Hensch

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said late Tuesday that Donald Trump's fear of defending his record is behind the GOP front-runner's boycott of the next Fox News GOP presidential debate.

"The reality is, the reason Donald is doing this — I actually don't think it's because of [Fox News host] Megyn [Kelly] at all," he said on Fox News's "Hannity."

"I think it's because he's afraid to defend his record, that he knows he can't defend his record, and he's trying to hide from the voters of Iowa," Cruz said six days from the first voting state's caucuses next Monday.

"He's not willing to stand up and explain why he supports Bernie Sanders-style, full-on socialized medicine, expanding ObamaCare so the federal government is in charge of our healthcare," he said, tying Trump with the Democratic presidential contender.

"He can't explain why today he supports taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood," Cruz added.

"He can't explain why he supported Obama's stimulus plan and supported Obama's TARP bail-out of the big banks. He doesn't want to answer those questions, and he refuses to show up."

Cruz argued that Trump's claims of bias from Kelly reveal he is not capable of confronting more powerful public figures.

"If you're afraid of Megyn Kelly, then you're going to be afraid of Hillary Clinton and you're going to be afraid of Vladimir Putin," he said.

"If you're afraid to have anyone ask a question, that does not bode well for what kind of commander in chief you'd make," the Texas lawmaker added.

Trump announced late Tuesday that he is skipping the seventh GOP presidential debate in Des Moines, Iowa, Thursday evening.

Kelly and Trump have publicly sparred since the first debate last August. The outspoken billionaire disliked her questions about his past remarks toward women.

Fox has a muslim activist an illegals to ask questions and one wonders why Trump won’t attend. I would like to hear Cruz honestly explain Corker, TPA and why he voted against the National Defense Authorization Act when the only way to pass his amendment was to pass the bill.

Cruz: Trump afraid to defend his record

***

And Cruz is afraid to defend the borders!

And also afraid to walk out of a rigged debate and endure the media firestorm too.

Weak! WEAK!

Additionally, I don’t think Trump is afraid of anyone.

<><><>

He is clearly terrified of the prospect of not winning.

I’m sick of this Canadian-Cuban would-be Usurper. His denial of Natural Law makes him unfit to serve in any office as far as I’m concerned. Deport him back to Canada... or Cuba if he’d prefer.

No, I think Trump wanted the media attention leading up to the vote. He has nothing to lose skipping debate. He has done 6.

Ted Cruz was the one who spoke out eloquently abotu teh unfair, malicious questioning of the media — including the unfair questioning of Trump, as well as others — in a debate. But now, becuase he dares to criticize The Donald, you claim he’s “obfuscating the issue of media malice and unprofessionalism”.

Your fantasy world must be an interesting place.

I kind of wish Trump would debate Cruz, so Cruz could defend his vote for TPA, Corker bill, his call for a 500% increase in H-1B visas, his call for an increase in immigration, his call to legalize illegals, etc. I think it would be fun to see Cruz stew in his own juices.

I KNOW, RITE?!

Trump said things. Things I do not like. But they were just words, and ultimately affected nothing at all other than maybe to hurt his election chances in 2016.

Cruz actually VOTED to take food from the mouths of Americans and rip clothes from their backs.

Which is less defensible?

Those who live in Realville know Ted is 100 percent right here. Those who live in Trump’s fantasy world believe otherwise.

Debates should be about substantive issues.

Because voters are so substantive. /sarc off

And yet... he won’t debate because he can’t handle Megan Whatsername.

***

This IS handling MK.

Instead of walking into a no-win scenario, Trump refused to play, and instead changed the game. He took a risk, but it seems to be panning out and now he’s in a no-lose scenario.

Compared to Cruz’s record of fighting (sometimes virtually alone) for our principles and the principles of the Constitution.

The more I listen to Cruz speak, the more I dislike him, he speaks just like a slimy attorney every word is VERY CAREFULLY constructed I hate that about him!!! He now says “the people of Iowa DESERVE to learn who Donald Trump is and he is hiding from showing them who he is”! GIVE ME A BREAK Trump has put himself out there EVERYWHERE!! if the PEOPLE of Iowa don’t know who Trump is by now they are just plain STUPID!!!

Depends... you can negotiate a tax cut as far as how much. but when you want a cut, and they want to raise taxes there is no middle ground..

or if you want to defund obamacare and they want to fund it fully, where is the middle ground?

“compromise” got us in this mess and it is NOT going to get us out of it.
