The author MAY have a point in that 13 Hours is such an ambiguous title. Anyone who does not already know the Benghazi story in detail likely has no idea what this movie is about.

I thought it was a pretty good film. Didn’t name names, but was a nice rendition of a hairy situation.

Limited release though...

I’ve seen the interviews with the actual participants and have seen how the actual events played out so I know what happened. Does the movie offer something more than just a narrative of events? I also read that the direction was a bit sloppy.

That’s a big part of why I won’t see it. Bay stinks. And honestly what do I gain from seeing it? It’s a sad story, I’m very familiar with it, I’ve seen the real images, don’t need them replaced or “enhanced”, and of course Michael Bay stinks.

I assume the blizzard has had some effect on attendance.

I've not seen the movie yet - planning on it.

However the *other* review that I just read, said that Hillary Clinton wasn't even mentioned in the movie. And, that the "What difference does it make" arrogant preening, wasn't mentioned either.

Methinks that the author of this piece should actually *watch* the movie, before reviewing it.

Your assessment of the movie itself? Was it well done, more than just a narrative of events which I’m already aware of?

I read the headline, then looked to see where it came from. Salon. I just said - “Oh”. Then went to the comments.

I saw the interviews with three of the guys actually invoked and saw the sequence of the tragic events. Does the movie offer more than a recounting of those events that I’m already aware of?

"Libs really are very angry unhappy people in general."

Kind of like the gays. Is that redundant?

The movie is now at $33, 000, 000.00 as of Sunday. Estimating outward.....this film should produce between #$70-80,000,000.00 in revenues flow, stateside. However....when Congressman, Trey Gowdy relases the findings of his investigation into the Benghazi incident.....those releases will be very damning to Obama/Clinton, and, most likely will breathe more life into the film!!! Fact is: It has aleady produced its required result and should do fairly well over the next 5-6 weeks, building through word of mouth!!!

“Salon aside, I’ve read elsewhere that the movie wasn’t really directed very well and what could have been a very good movie isn’t. Anyone seen this movie and if so, whaddyathink?”

I did and I agree it’s a VERY poorly made movie. main characters are indistinguishable because they all have the same beard; dialog, such as it is, is almost unhearable the sound is so poor; the battle scenes at the compound are disastrous because almost the whole 45 minutes are shot with a handheld shakycam, which induces nausea; and unless you read the book, i don’t think most people could even figure out most of what was happening in the movie or why, particularly the compound battle.

nonetheless, glad i saw it, it gets better towards the end, and does produce intense emotions.

still, michael bay made a real hash out of this movie. and that’s probably the main reason it’s failing: technically, it’s a very poorly made movie.

“Maybe the reason she doesn't think it is doing well is because none of her castrating feminazi friends are going to see it.”

That reminds me of an old quote, attributed to film critic Pauline Kael: “I don't see how Nixon won. I don't know anyone who voted for him.”

I doubt it. Hollywood spends gobs of money to try to make sure their marketing is right.. Michael Bay keno rookie director either. If the film has the name it does it’s because their research showed it was the best name.

Most folks don’t go to the movies for politics adding Hillary or Benghazi to the name would probably turn more people away than get to go.

19 million isn't a bomb on a low budget movie. It's a respectable amount for a first weekend.

If it was a $200 million dollar project, like Batman V Superman, yeah, 19 million would be disappointing.

Brokeback Mountain made $600,000 in it's first weekend, and 2.5 million in it's second. This movie isn't a bomb.
