“Since when do conservative engage in this type of blind loyalty towards ANY politician?”

I support Cruz, but I put my “blind loyalty” to no man, especially a politician.
whether that politician is new to the game or an old hack, makes no difference. No blind loyalty.

“...If we nominate Trump, we’ll have our third straight lose/lose election where most conservatives will have a candidate who doesn’t truly represent their views as the GOP nominee. Of course, if Trump is our nominee, I will vote for him and I will try to do what I can to help him win, but it would be easier to ski uphill than to get a wildly unpopular Rockefeller Republican like Trump into the White House.”
***************************************************************************

Pretty well captures my thoughts on this whole situation.

I will go with either Trump or Cruz, because the USA cannot have either a Clinton or a Sanders.”

...agreed 100%. Too many stay home to “teach lessons” and now, here we are.

(How would you realistically implement it?),

Require people to eat a ham sandwich to enter the country. That's my solution for airport security as well. We can develop a reasonable workaround for Jewish people.

Jeff Session probably will back Trump today.

He knows Cruz and is Cruz's hero on immigration whose work has ne effective but not a headline seeker

Those issues do not preclude a cult like mentality.

I want Trump to win but it has nothing to do with his personality or likability. I rate those two things the lowest scoring attributes for backing him. His personality is repulsive sometimes.

That is what bothers me most about Trump - his supporters. They are worshiping him. No sign of thought and no comprehension that someone could look at his record and have doubts.

What a total pant-load.

Cruz supporters are just pissed off because THEIR reasoning isn't convincing others.

YOU guys are the reason Trump supporters are no longer hoping for a Trump/Cruz ticket.

Go ahead. Keep up the insults for your candidate.

There are two critical considerations that make me a Trump supporter. First, this country will not survive another Democrat, especially the ilk that are running as Democrats. Beating the Democrats this time is paramount. Trump is a proven winner. He is tied nationally with Hillary and he hasn’t even focused on her yet. Second, Trump is his own man. I like the things he has identified as needing attention and I am confident he has the independence to address these issues, unencumbered by special interests. The Chamber of Commerce, as an example, will be neutered.

I notice that most Trump supporters responding here seem to conclude that the writer is a Cruzer and therefore the piece can be utterly dismissed. Gives them the perfect opportunity to not consider some of the valid observations about Trump that are made.

“...The problem with that is that successful though Donald Trump may be, he fails all the time. He’s had four bankruptcies. Then there’s Trump steaks, Trump Vodka, Trump the Game, Trump Magazine, Trump Mortgage, Trump Airlines, Trump University, Trump Casinos, the New Jersey Generals and happily, he also lost a lawsuit and was unable to take a widow’s home via eminent domain so he could build a limo parking lot. Trump has been a successful businessman, but an awful lot of investors who put money into his ill-advised projects because they just assumed he’d find a way to win have gotten burned doing business deals with him. Again, barring a miracle, that’s what would happen to all of his supporters if he becomes the GOP nominee in 2016. Many of them don’t see it for the same reason Ron Paul’s fans couldn’t see it in 2012. Sure, Paul had a diehard following that voted for him in Internet polls and showed up at his events, but he alienated too many people to ever win a general election while he was building up his fanbase. Trump has done the same thing, except a little bigger and better....”

Trump retweet this morning ... "a very powerful endorsement" will be coming today

I wonder if it is Senator Sessions? The most knowledgeable senator on the subject of immigration.

Dang! He left out DT’s potential filling the federal courts with lefties, also the SC.
That’s the fastest way to tyranny.

I and most other Trump supporters worship God, love America, and think Trump can improve America. We don’t expect perfection nor do we claim Trump is a perfect, never waivering “Christian Cnservative” as we hear about other candidates. He is a man with foibles like all men. We are looking for a strong leader who loves America and isn’t PC or one voting for Corker bill or TPA. We don’t need a minister or spiritual leader.

Additionally, I find it OFFENSIVE when Trump is called a fascist or people attack his supporters. At the end of the day, to beat Trump you have to convince his supporters to go elsewhere. You don't do that by insulting people for their choice of candidates.

I find it offensive when a superior conservative candidate and his supporters are attacked for holding to conservative values. If Trump is nominated, his supporters will get exactly the candidate they deserve.

alienated too many people

Trump has alienated illegal aliens and Muslims, he'll never win a general election.
