"....That $100,000 gift from Trump to the Boehner-allied super PAC was twice as big as his next-biggest contributions. [Trump's] given $50,000 .. to Karl Rove's American Crossroads (2010) [and $50,000 to] the pro-Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Kentuckians for Strong Leadership (2013)..."

I posted the total dollars by year that Trump donated to politicians yesterday. My figures were ones that came for the FEC not a political site. Trump has given over 750K to Republicans and over 250K to Democrats.

Sundance has a GREAT expose on a Cruz SuperPAC that is headed by McConnel’s lawyer spending millions on ads including on Mark Levin’s radio program.

You’re missing the point of the researched article - i.e. who Rafael Cruz is aligned with (GOP-Establishment) does not match his false narrative.

You seemed to have missed the researched information about Trump and his $how of love for the leaders in the GOPe - described in the thread article, and missed (or perhaps ignored) his comments attacking Ted Cruz, while he’s blowing kisses to the GOPe leadership about how he knows how to get along and make deals - detailed in Post #1.

Speaking of lawyers and associations with reviled characters, I haven’t ever seen anyone mention this

Cruz also served as private counsel for Congressman John Boehner during Boehner’s lawsuit against Congressman Jim McDermott for releasing a tape recording of a Boehner telephone conversation.[52]

Source is Ted Cruz’s Wikipedia page

Now lets take his words on this. He was desperately trying to use whatever influence he could to get those in the GOP to take action to counter what he saw as their ambivalence to use their power to at least be the opposition Party.

Seeing that his years of efforts to sway them to making business and economic fights against the progressives, he threw up his hands in disgust and decided he would make the effort to enter the race to lead the political effort if he could.

He struck a chord with his simple messages on the big items the establishment was ignoring and even working against the people who sent them there with the promise they would fight at the front to turn things around (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014).

They did not live up to their promises and he, like so many of us, wrote off the GOPe and looked for alternatives. Cruz was fighting the good fight against the GOPe on the Senate floor, but his campaign kickoff got some buzz, but he did not build on that in a very public way. Most of what I saw was endless e-mails from all sorts of bundling source asking for money. Then comes the snail mail barrage all while Trump was building his support by not asking for money, but simply our support.

David Brat did exactly the same thing in beating Eric Cantor by using his shoe leather resources to walk the district selling his message, and not out begging for money as his primary (no pun intended) means to connect to the voters. I said very early in this process, whomever uses anything like the Brat method of selling his message directly to the people would be the leader, especially when those supposed leaders in and around Capital Hill failed so many times to do so. All the while, he was using his resources to sell a message. Cantor spent more money courting big buck donors at one steak dinner event than Brat did on his entire campaign (~$100,000).

So, I ask you, who among us did not donate, or wished we could to the GOP in the hopes our proportional influence may have been a voice to turn this thing around?

So given that, what do we make of Trump's praise and donations to the Democratic Party and it's elected members?

Big Deal. Some Cruz fans have repeatedly misrepresented that Trump gave more to Dems then Reps on FR. That was just one more lie some still use. Now the business deal Cruz had went south and he still made a lot. That Jamaican equity deal made money. Sadly Kingston is a hub for money laundering. I will be glad to provide you with the actual total dollars by year as per the FEC not from spin doctors if you like. Cruz never talks about his sisters and I will not bring them up as the Cruz fan who blasted Trump for not buying health insurance for a grandkid whose family is suing him. Hell, I would not give them anything either. They are not poor.

Not surprised with another Rafael/GOP-E connection.

Rafael, while on NRSC at McConnell's request, remained quiet during the GOP-E voter fraud in Mississippi 2014 primary.

Monday, Sen Sessions' top advisor joined Trump.

Also Monday, Sen Sessions stated we need a great deal negotiator for President - darn close to an endorsement and a slap to Rafael Cruz.

Rafael continues to avoid getting a judgement on his Canadian birth. Why? /rhetorical

1997: Florida Couple Says They Gave Gingrich Tape To McDermott

" WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, Jan. 13) -- A potentially illegal recording of a cell phone conversation involving House Speaker Newt Gingrich was handed over to federal criminal investigators tonight, the House ethics committee's chief counsel said.

First the tape was sent to the committee by Rep. Jim McDermott of Washington state, the committee's ranking Democrat. A Florida couple who taped the call told a news conference in Gainesville, Florida today they gave the recording to McDermott last week.

McDermott promptly sent the tape to the ethics committee Monday afternoon. But the committee's chief counsel, Theodore J. Van Der Meid, wrote McDermott that the committee refused to accept the tape and, after consultations with the chief of the Justice Department's criminal division, forwarded it to the Justice Department. "....

Typical BS. The poster is correct. Some of these commercial clips you are so proud of are being paid by the very clowns from Wall Street we bailed out with a few exceptions plus hedge fund types and private equity firms. These are the special interests that own Cruz.

"you don't piss off fellow senators by calling co-workers liars"

You're completely missing the point. You don't piss off fellow senators by lying to their face. When you do, you can expect to be called on it. Are you telling me that it's actually better to lie, than it is to be called a liar for doing it?

Ironic. Who has been conservative in the past 30 years.

By the time you get to a state wide level of office the scum has risen to the top and good people are not in the running to get elected. The last 2 election cycles gave the GOP the biggest majorities in years in both the house and senate. what have they done for conservatives? The GOP could have killed ACA by controlling the senate in 2010, but were more concerned about controlling the GOP and eliminating Tea Party candidates.

I work for no one.

You don’t like the subject so you change the focus.

And the end of the road for Cruz’s campaign if he doesn’t win.
