U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro told Army Radio on Monday that he regretted the timing of remarks he made last week that were critical of Israeli policies in Judea and Samaria.
Shapiro made the controversial remarks at the Institute for National Security Studies conference in Tel Aviv last Monday. Earlier the same day, Israeli terror victim Dafna Meir had been laid to rest in Jerusalem after being stabbed to death by a Palestinian assailant in Otniel the previous day and another Israeli woman, Michal Froman, was wounded in a stabbing in Tekoa.
In his speech, Shapiro said, "Too many attacks on Palestinians lack a vigorous investigation or response by Israeli authorities; too much vigilantism goes unchecked; and at times there seem to be two standards of adherence to the rule of law: one for Israelis and another for Palestinians."
Shapiro's remarks drew a sharp response from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said, "The ambassador's comments, on a day when a mother of six is being buried and a pregnant woman is stabbed, are unacceptable and untrue."

He only reregts the timing not the content. Why bother saying anything at all. Things like this only make the situation worse. Then again that might have been the goal.
The "attacks" Shapiro is referring to is Israelis who defend themselves against these knife attacks. Shapiro thinks someone who shoots a palestinian trying to knife them should be prosecuted.

Hey Shapiro, if your do dambed “sorry” why not donate some $$$ to help build housing, schools, and hospitals for needy young Jewish families in their homeland ( Judaea, Samaria, etc.) — or you could donate to their self- defense against islamonazi bombings and knife attacks and break-ins (One Israel Fund) — or you could give to the Israeli local equivalent of the uso ( Friends of the IDF) or you could help send a few IDF soldiers to university after they complete their tour of duty, or you could go yourself and help defend the Jewish community of Hebron against Muslim murder attacks — go on defense perimeter patrol duty for awhile — it will do you good— a lot of good — atone and compensate - and get your name inscribed onto the right side of God’s ledger book for a change . (And shut up your filthy Nazi mouth too)
