...thereâs no basis for the common claim Obama won through a superb, unprecedented, supremely effective get-out-the-vote effort by the Democrats. Even downcast Republicans have hailed the oppositionâs turnout operation as magnificent, but they fail to note that it resulted in far fewer voters showing up for President Obama.
- The president drew 7.6 million fewer votes than he did in the hope-and-change election of 2008.
- Exit polls showed that Obama got a slightly smaller percentage of the black vote than last time and that turnout was sharply down, delivering at least 1.5 million fewer African-American ballots for the Democrats.
- Obama lost to Mitt Romney in a devastating landslide, 59 percent to 39 percent. Four years ago, he also lost the white vote, but by a far more modest margin of 12 percentage points rather than the 20-point blowout this year. Compared to his Election Day performance in 2008, Obama lost more than 7 million white votes.
How, then, did the president manage to prevail over a confident, well-funded, united opposition at a time of economic anxiety and 7.9 percent unemployment?
He and his supporters succeeded in discouraging and disillusioning the Republican and independent voters Romney needed for victory...Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan drew 1.3 million fewer votes than the allegedly hapless ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin.

More on How Democrats Suppress Voters
There is some truth to the article's assertions, though. In the Spring of 2012 there was a national mood of optimism that Obama was on his way out. By July, everybody seemed to have given up and resigned themselves to Obama's reelection. Conservatives were depressed by Romney's primary win, of course, but there was something more to it than that. The MSM was working overtime to create a national mood of inevitability for Obama - and it worked.
Alternately, the GOP-e suppressed the White vote by nominating a candidate that required those of us who did show up to hold our noses while pulling the lever.
Romney suppressed his own voters. He is a Mormon blue blood, that is starting out with two strikes. Plus anti-establishment anger was already heating up. Strike three. Romneycare. Second out. Lackluster 2nd and 3rd debate performances and allowing the cow to control the third debate. Game over.
exactly I refused to support the rino Romney it had nothing to do with my vote being suppressed.
U TAKIN’ BOUT ME?
“He and his supporters succeeded in discouraging and disillusioning the Republican and independent voters Romney needed for victory...Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan drew 1.3 million fewer votes than the allegedly hapless ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin.”
You only need more votes in the states you must win. The formula is there and if you go against it, you can never win. For a Republican, you must win all your firewall states AND Ohio. Chances of breaking the Democrats firewall is slim at best.
It was Romney that suppressed the white, conservative vote.
Obama excelled at the get-out-the-dead votes and the multi-votes.
Romneycare took Obamacare off the table, though it was the biggest political story of the first Obama administration. But the whole turnout factor is something nobody has even tried to examine. Not only did fewer vote in 2012 than in 2008, it was a country larger by 5-10 million potential voters, so the % age was extremely low, maybe as low as it had ever been. There is a great site that keeps historic election data; Dave Leip. Even now 4 years later , his bar graph, showing estimate of turnout is blank for 2012, never happened before ( He still uses older and more appropriate convention of blue for Republican and Red for Democrat on his maps)http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/index.html
Don’t forget the voting laws working against Americans by allowing busloads of Somlalians and others to vote for free stuff without needing to show ID or even citizenship.
Who counted the votes?
It didn’t suppress MY vote. For all the Pubbies who stayed home in a snit, shame on you, you consigned me and the rest of Middle America to economic misery, which is why I’m voting for Donald J. Trump, the only candidate who can win for our side this time, so I’m blocking out your defeatist talk and saying, Go Trump!
Be sure not to read this article, because it makes a certain amount of sense.
Some of 0bama's "sons" at the voting precincts.
Vote fraud. Obama himself didn’t expect to win he was so hated by then.
Clearly, it is past time for Rove and the GOPe clown show to step aside.
Medved wrote this before all votes were counted. The actual tally tells a different story.
2008
Obama
69,498,526 votes.
52.9%
365 EV
McCain
59,948,323 votes

173 EV
2012
Obama
65,915,796 votes
51.1%
322 EV
Romney
60,933,500 votes
47.2%

Romney did BETTER than McCain, not worse. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard Medved on his own show correcting the false narrative that McCain did better than Romney. Not sure if he mentioned his own writing though.
Vote fraud in key states like Ohio and Pennsylvania is no dirty little secret
Trudeau plans to change to voting system in Canada Big Time so he can stay in power
They had their media attack Romney as old, rich, and white; FWIW, Hillary is all three (and that explains a lot in terms of her lack of popularity).
