So, a class clown raised by “organic” farmers (read: paranoid conspiracy theorists) is practically a custom-made personality for becoming a Weatherman in the 60s, a neo-nazi in the 80s, or a Muslim terrorist now. I think as raising families and working as a debt-slave is no longer a priority for many young Westerners they seek to give meaning to their lives in other ways. Environmentalism certainly attracts many (as a new religion of its own), and radical Islam does as well.
