You beat me to it. Paranoia is a known side effect, IIRC.

And, I thought they were going to break in, I was just clearing my yard and they were out there still. Yelling back at me, ‘go ahead and shoot’ and stuff. ‘put it down and we’ll kick your ass good’. They weren’t afraid whatsoever, but it did keep them from attacking me. One towards the end said he’d come back and kill me and my whole family.

Cops didn’t care at all.

Sounds like a messed up situation, I wasn’t there so I can’t make a judgment call.

Hope they returned your weapon to you.

The AK is gone, I’m a ‘prohibited person’ for another 9 some years. No guns. Even after that I won’t be able to get a concealed carry license which I had for 10 years prior. Deferred Adjudication on an assault charge bans you. In TX I’ll be able to have one in my car, but that’s it. In 9.. years.. For defending myself. The gestapo blows. The courts blow.

No argument here, that's why so many recommend the SSS method (shoot, shovel and shut up)

Several months ago I had just entered onto the ramp of a nearby freeway when after rounding the slight curve all of a sudden a pick up truck came into view only it was facing sideways across the lane with it’s front end just touching the guard rail. As I approached, staying a good distance back wondering what I should do because I was completely blocked in with nowhere to go, they started backing up and then went forward again hitting the rail. I waited another minute, a bit scared being boxed in, thinking it was drunk driver and staying back. Finally they pulled forward and ambled on down the highway only to run up along the median. My instinct was to stay far away from that vehicle and when I told my daughter about it later she asked why I didn’t check to see if the driver was alright. It never occured to me that it could have been an accident. I guess I just assume the worst out of people and am leery of them these days. It’s a shame. Not sure how it would have been an accident anyways. It was either a crazy or drunk driver, there’s no way they could end up in that position without driving way too fast or awkwardly.

They should have tied the doors closed with rope and had the car hauled to a crusher with him in it.

Well, I’d be in for murder if I fired because as soon as they saw the gun they backed up into the street. And there was another one calling 911 that I didn’t see. So it’s a good thing I didn’t fire. Had they charged me, which several times I thought they were, it would be different. One had a folding knife on them, they left a beer can on my yard, and still I’m the one that got screwed by the system.

I stand by my initial statement, having a gun can be a big problem when the courts will ruin your life anyway if they can when you need one. To me this was a perfect gun use. Nobody got hurt, it held them off, and so on. But I still got F’d.

Glad drugs are HARMLESS, it's time to FINALLY legalize them.

>Wrong!

A good person was shot & killed because of them.<

>>A Crystal Meth user is my educated guess.<<

Drunk. Appears the drug involved was good ole' ethanol.

Drugs are not a victimless crime. They can destroy families and communities and lead to other crimes. Take black tar heroin. It is the most addictive drug with an enormous overdose death rate that is much higher than for street heroin. The dealers are all illegal aliens from Mexico, and they hang around schools and other place to persuade youngsters and oldsters to try it with free samples. I read that they are under orders to sell only to whites and target communities without previous heroin problem.

I feel strongly about this because the young son of friends died from a drug overdose. He was a kind, intelligent boy who made one very bad choice.

Agree...I was thinking Meth too. Absolute HORRIBLE that the availability and use of a drug has this result, not only for the dead trucker, but also for the user.

[yes, I know it’s easy to say he’s horrible and end it at that, but he didn’t do Meth just to wipe out a car and kill an innocent person - he simply wanted to get high and the rest ‘just happened’ because he could get the drug]

u r right re: “ good samaritan”. I’m guessing the guy who got shot is black.

I found another article that says he was drunk and
officials identified the good Samaritan as Jefferson Heavner, 26, of Newton. Sure doesn’t seem like a neighbor.

http://www.wsoctv.com/news/news/local/authorities-respond-reported-shooting-catawba-coun/np9zP/

Here is another whole different take on this story. Car got stuck after the shooting.

http://www.hickoryrecord.com/news/alleged-shooter-apprehended-by-catawba-county-star-team/article_f7b27f38-c172-11e5-b87a-7f80bf31934d.html

I used google maps for the exact location and this area is not in a neighborhood, though you can see homes a ways away from the road.

So, based on the “hickoryrecord” article...
drug deal gone bad ?
attempted robbery ?
car hijacking ?

this story is quite strange and I’m thinking this aint the end of this

I’m not posting this for your benefit, and forgive me if I am misunderstanding.

But the problem here is going out and confronting them. Call the cops. As long as they are outside and they aren’t trying to break in you may not be in any danger, or at least that opinion is plausible. By going outside the argument can easily be made that you are escalating the situation, introducing a gun into what is essentially an argument.

What it boils down to not pulling a gun until there is a compelling need to fire it. Someone outside your home making threats is a very tough sell in that regard.

Fwiw, the deceased had his own run ins with the law.

Here and Here

We won't hear his side of the story. I wonder what really happened.

The horrible writing of this tells me that perhaps it was a tweeker who wrote the piece.

Prayers up for the murder victim and his loved ones.
