Some time ago I said that many establishment Republicans dislike Ted Cruz so much that they would even back their nemesis, Donald Trump, if necessary to keep Cruz from winning.
This is one time I wish I had been wrong.
The establishment has long held Cruz in contempt but didn't believe he had any realistic chance of securing the GOP nomination. Now, with his campaign success, he's scaring their pants off. Former Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole has issued apocalyptic warnings against nominating Cruz, and I've just received an email that Sen. Orrin Hatch prefers Trump over Cruz as well.
Earlier this week, it was New York Times pretend-conservative columnist David Brooks who suggested a Republican conspiracy against Cruz and Trump in favor of any other GOP candidate. "Very few presidents are so terrible," he wrote, "that they genuinely endanger their own nation, but Trump and Cruz would go there and beyond."(continued)

You might win the Unhinged Award of the day. But don't get your hopes up, there are quite a few vying for it.
I think it's way too tight.
Name one.
“majority of the country thinks he is really creepy”
Flashback to Nixon when running against JFK.
“And the answer is we nominate a And the answer is we nominate a detestable gasbag and blowhard poseur..”
Yes; we do. But he’ll be OUR detestable gasbag and blowhard poseur who can win against an even worse Democrat candidate.
“Senator Cruz represents everything I want as President of our great country.”
You can be mumbling that in your sleep if he wins the nomination, because the next “President of our great country” will have a “D” next to his/her name.
“Our great country?” Seriously? Are you time traveling back 25-30 years? Our country hasn’t been “great” in decades.
Barbra Olson was BKO. A special woman.
A personal remembrance of FReeper BKO (Barbara Olson) “let us never forget...”

There are far mor Cruz supporters that say Rush is GOPe. Far more.
Really. Who would that be.
I have no list, and neither does the other person I responded to. I don’t count, but there have seen tons of comments here since Trump announced.
Dear John, I want to make a personal apology to you and Ted Cruz, the two smartest and most pure conservatives who have ever lived. And I acknowledge that although Sarah Palin refused to abort her son Trig and carried him to full term that you obviously feel a much deeper and stronger commitment to protecting life in the womb than she does.
It is truly disappointing that Sarah Palin would allow her personal relationships with both Mr. Trump and Senator Cruz to blind her to the truth about their true character. It is truly disappointing that she would rely on her own judgment and personal knowledge when you have so carefully measured Mr. Trump’s attributes and made your sensible conclusions available to all.
It is a crazy world and we are so fortunate that you still love us all and will welcome us back when we come to our senses. I can only wish that one fine sunny day you, Glenn Beck, Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and the rest of us can get together near the border and welcome the poor souls trying to make their way into America with stuffed animals, soccer balls, maybe a few balloons and our very best compassionate conservative wishes. /S
David Limbaugh puts forth his case well. Of course, he’s right on all accounts.
Ted doesn’t make me feel all icky when I hear him speak.
You’ve been warned.
I called Trump a populist about 30 seconds after his announcement. With a populist there are always things they say that we can readily agree with, things we have longed to hear someone say for a long time. The populist then convinces that he is the only person on earth able or willing to get these things done.
The populist ever the blustering bully lauds his initial popularity and demeans any person or organization that refuses to acclaim his acumen. The one thing a populist will not give you is how things will be done. I will get a country to do something but I will tell you how I will do it.
The populist will tell you what he will do but not how he will govern; and that is dangerous.
Ted Cruz was born in Canada and was, until recently, a Canadian citizen and many believe he cannot run!
