I didn’t like One Day At A Time or The Jeffersons (blatant social engineering was sooo obvious- even to a 20 yr old dingbat), but I LOVED Archie Bunker. He had an identical personality to the man my mom dated for 8 years, but he was a blast.

NEVER understood that the MAJORITY of Americans identified with Archie Bunker. They weren’t laughing at him. They were cheering him on.

I think that both side have been equal in the intensity of the remarks. Me Included.
I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. My worry is that it will continue after the primaries and Trump or Cruz gets the nomination. I don’t think that hate will subside enough to ensure victory.
Norman Lear is 93. What mighty political force can he now set in motion to defeat the nasty rightwingers? Ha!
In a twisted way, he’s right about Trump being the middle finger raised to the powers that be, either Dems or the GOPe.
I do think the Cruzer or loser folks are worse, a lot of them saying they're going to stay home if Trump wins, maybe because I've been a Cruz guy the Cruz crowd offends me more.
And yes, I've done this in past elections as well, just realized it rarely helps.
I wont stay home this election and will Vote for trump. You have to admit we have voted for worse.Look at Romney, McCain, Dole for example.
there comes a time to put the country in front of pride. Anyone who votes for a 3rd party might as well vote for the democrat.
Archie Bunker sort of backfired on Lear.
He thought America would laugh at the guy because they found him as backward and detestable as he did.
In reality the show became a hit because most Americans identified with Archie. That had to eat Lear alive!
Funny thing is Carroll O’Conner was wrong on just
about everything.
That’s so funny. He created a clumsy hero in Archie Bunker, and he didn’t mean to.
Looks good on him though.
