Times that try men's souls vs living in interesting times

We are currently experiencing both and it is challenging.

I pray FR survives this election. Our forum has never been so divided. But even more so, I pray our divided nation survives. If traitor Hillary or communist Sanders is elected, it will be difficult to continue as a free nation without invoking certain clauses in the Declaration. Our constitution is certainly being put to the test.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness

God is in charge. The original colonies were established mostly in the name of Judeo-Christianity and primarily for religious freedom. And our current government was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

Republican, democrat, conservative, liberal, progressive are all political constructs and are useful, but are not the ultimate causes.

God, family, country, liberty are our causes.

We are all created in God's image. God gave us life and liberty. He taught us how to live, how to work, how to fend for ourselves and family, how to govern ourselves, how to defend ourselves our family our country, and how to worship and be faithful. Most of us on FR believe He had a mighty hand on the founding of our nation and that we should continue seeking Him as our guiding light.

Today we are caught up in what could very well be the climatic struggle for our nation's survival. We've been struggling in this nation against godless progressivism for at least 100 years. And, of course, against Satanic Islamic totalitarianism for 1400 years. Now we have the godless progressives, Marxist communists and Satanic Islamic fascist totalitarians all joining forces to try for the final destruction of our Judeo-Christian nation.

We are being invaded from within and without and we will fail as a nation if we do not recognize this and we fail to unite as a free people under God to fight for our survival.

At first I was very skeptical about Donald Trump entering the race. I'm a great believer in Ted Cruz and his godly conservatism. And I pray that if he's the candidate, that the nation bands together and grants him a landslide victory and a mandate to secure our nation and set it back on the righteous path.

But I have to admit that Trump surprised me and got my patriotic emotions stirring again. He is obviously not the evangelical constitutional conservative that Cruz is, but does appear to be a powerful leader with a love for America and freedom. And he's proving that he can pull in large crowds and great numbers in the polls.

As I said, I was skeptical at first, but after watching him campaign and learning some of the details about his Reagan-like tax plan and his determination to secure our borders and secure our nation I became a little more interested. And his non-PC approach to handling the media and the GOPe intrigued me.

His bold statements that we should build a wall, enforce the law, deport them ALL, end the sanctuary cities, end the anchor babies were shocking to most of the political class, but as his polling numbers attest, are exactly what the people want. Even more shocking were his bold statements of going after the families and the mosques of the terrorists and even slapping a moratorium on Muslim immigration. Shocking, but again, exactly what we need if we are to survive the war the Muslims are waging against us.

The political class to a man immediately rejected these bold statements as being unconstitutional and un-American, but as they see the people are for them, they are starting to come around.

Am I totally sold on Trump? Not yet. But if he continues as he is and doesn't blowup, he could very well be our nominee. And if so, I will support him to the hilt.

We have two great candidates in Cruz and Trump and I hope neither are knocked out too soon. We have RINO amnesty pimps Rubio, Kasich, Bush, et al, lurking just behind. And the GOPe is far from dead.

Go, Cruz, Go!

Go, Trump, Go!

Either way, we win, they lose.

And I pray one of these two gets it and that we can all join forces against the true enemy when he does.

God us all and bless America.

And FReepers, please quit attacking each other. We're all in this together.

I will agree to not post articles that are considered Anti-Trump. If others will not post articles that are considered to be Anti-Cruz.

Anti-Cruz Post will continue to be defended unless there is no defense.

I agree with you. The problem is I always go into a discussion wanting to have a conversation. I have an historical background and I can share a lot. I understand our Founders and am writing a book about liberty. Being on this forum is like being in a room with people who do not know how to have a conversation but just like to hear themselves shout, thinking that, like Eleanor Clift, if they just shout louder they are making their point. All you end up with is cacophony. It really is too bad because no one is listening.

Posting on the different threads is okay, welcomed, but what is not okay or welcomed is the self-destruction that takes place when emotions explode and insults and attacks take place. . .usually when FReepers rage about any candidate other than their own, sainted choice.

Exchanging point of view, fine, but let us not forget the stakes in this election (as Jim R stated), and lest us not forget the Supreme Court is in play. That has more potential to destroy this great nation than any one president. We should not “sit this one out” if our sainted choice is not the republican nominee.

hitlery or sanders nominating SCOTUS justices. . .that is truly a bullet to Lady Liberty’s head.

So now you’re saying that he “changed his mind years ago”. (I guess 4 qualifies as “years” but I think most of us would prefer a bit more longevity.) But let me ask you this. In the posts above, you rightly cited all his flaws. He’s an exceedingly flawed candidate. But what has he DONE since his miraculous conversion AND prior to his run for office (where all he does is flap his gums about what a great conservative guy he is) that justifies your complete flip flop on trump?

Where are his foundations supporting conservative causes. Where are his large donations to veterans programs? Where are all the speeches denouncing program X or position Y that the democrats were espousing?

I think we feel more "divided" because a lot more people can now express opinions that can be seen by a lot more people.

Remember, Alvin Toffler in three books--Future Shock, The Third Wave and Powershift--specifically said the world will change dramatically once communication technologies dramatically improve--and he saw it happening when paid online systems such as CompuServe and BBS systems connected by FidoNet started to rapidly grow in the 1980's. And accelerated with the arrival of the public Internet in the 1990's and social media services accessed by cellphones from 2007 on.

As such, the world just seems a lot more chaotic than ever; it's not more "chaotic" per se, but the fact news--good and bad--spread at amazing speeds in 2015.

We will survive, my brother-in-arms. We've been through much worse -- the Copyright Lawsuit. This is a trivial difference in taste, in comparison. Some people like chocolate; some vanilla.

Keep the faith and keep on.

I understand that and respect that as your preference in the primary. But once
it gets to the general election in Nov. 2016 and it’s between Trump and the democrat
are you saying you can’t vote for Trump? If you can’t then what conservative do you see
voting for that may have a chance as a 3rd party/independent ticket runner?

Cruz is my choice. If Trump wins, I’m 100% behind him

That said, I’ll support whoever is not the democrat, but not as strongly.
