Mobile Police say a robbery suspect was shot and killed at Twin Oaks Apartments on Old Shell Road Monday night. According to MPD Spokesperson Charlette Solis, a man was unloading groceries from his car around 8 pm, when a man with a gun walked up to him. The victim says the man took his wallet. It was then the victim managed to grab his own pistol, in a jacket pocket. The victim shot the gun, while still in his pocket, and hit the suspect in the chest. The suspect ran across the parking lot.

Police found the suspect’s body in the breezeway of one of the apartment buildings. Police say the victim’s wallet was in the man’s left hand and a revolver was on the ground near him. The suspect was shot once in the center of his chest and once on the right side of his chest. Investigators say the suspect had no identification and so far, they’ve been unable to confirm his identity.

Police say the homicide was justifiable. The case will be presented to a grand jury.

Pretty good shooting. I thought it was interesting that the guy ran away with two shots in the chest. I live very close to where this happened. A few years ago it would have been very unlikely that something like this would happen in this area. Things change. I carry when I walk my dog.

To bad about his jacket.

A pistol that can be fired (repeatedly) from inside a pocket, something to consider for CCW

The advantage of a small, lightweight, hammerless revolver for concealed carry. (Smith and Wesson Model 642, for instance)

Sounds like a tragic ending. The guy is probably going to have to replace a favorite jacket.

Many years ago, also in Mobile, a police officer was on his back with a guy just about beating his head in and managed to shoot the bad guy through his pants pocket with his back up gun; a hammerless revolver. I don’t have one of those but I’m not big into carrying a gun in my pocket. Tried with my LCP but too obvious and just not comfortable.

The Glocksters and the 1911 crew are probably going to flame you, but I agree about hammerless revolvers for CC.

“The guy is probably going to have to replace a favorite jacket.”

Not me! I’d wear it everywhere like a badge of honor.

No picture that I can find, but:

“According to Mobile Police spokesperson Charlette Solis, 18-year-old Michael Lanier Clark was shot and killed during a robbery attempt at the apartment complex.”

I think any assumption about his race would probably be correct.

Is there a good holster? Why in his pocket?

I love an auto, don't get me wrong. I have a couple of favorites, even, but to fire more than once out of a parka (a consideration for much of the year here), you can't beat a hammerless revolver in the parka pocket. You can get a new coat. No time to draw from a holster inside the winter gear.

For the ladies, they can get a new purse, if you get my drift.

Yeah, I like the simplicity and reliability of a revolver.

That is a fascinating looking gun. Is it truly hammerless or is that merely a cover I see that simply goes over the hammer?

"To bad about his jacket."

Can the robber's body be sold, say for maggot food, to (partially) recoup the cost of repairing the hole in the victim's jacket pocket?
