It’s gotten worse since the days of the bboard jungle.
ROFL!!!
Sorry ... can't help it.
Must make a heck of a day-planner.
I think the guy really did have some considerable sense of ideals.
People often do decide that life isn’t all about them. Quite a few Catholic Saints were just like that.
This guy obvious should have done something about being gay first, but whatever.
I also understand the disillusion. Under current conditions there isn’t much that can be done with the sort of kid they have to work with.
The only fix for kids so far gone is separation of every possible one that can be more easily rescued, and segregation of the worst cases in rigid, 24x7, military programs with fearsome corporal punishment. And yes I know that is impossible, and even if it were possible may fail or backfire for many. Life is tragedy.
Some of them do make that transition, believe me.
Those neighborhoods are both better - and worse - than presented.
Yes ... back when I was a teacher I observed the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Slutty Suzie's ever lovin' mommy was usually a bit slutty herself. Thuggish boys frequently had a thuggish father or father-equivalent. Or no father at all.
Interesting. Word on the street (OK, the hallways) is that the Mexican kids are just as you say, not very bright but not really troublesome. 9/10 of this stuff is the black kids.

The 'victims' bear more than a small share of the blame. Just because you're poor doesn't mean you have to live like a feral animal.
Put them in a chain gang and make them do something useful.
Why in the hell are you putting up with that crap? Move! Are you waiting for one of them to kill you, or what?
Looks like Taneeka’s 10:00 didn’t quite go as planned ...
If this is supposed to be a good school for at risk kids, then there is no hope at all for things to get better in the ghetto.
So that's why he had his "epiphany", to get a shot at some young targets under cover of employment.
But these are generalities (or stereotypes) along the lines of the penny-pinching Scot and the contemptuous French. There are always exceptions.
As for black students, there it gets more interesting. The girls are almost uniformly awesome. Very often the best in the class. They tend to be in our school because their parents did NOT want them going to school in an all-black neighborhood, so clearly there is parental involvement. But the boys... even when they are the brothers of the wonderful girls, they are just not as cooperative. Sometimes they almost seem like they WANT to, but they are afraid of not being cool. Other times they are really hostile to the bone. But yeah, it's weird.
I also notice that Hispanic kids with lighter skin very often gravitate to white culture, and it either correlates to them doing well, or they are the very intelligent type that only exerts enough effort to get by, but when you talk to them, they sound positively sophisticated. It's all very surreal.
Don't call me Shirley......
And if you say that out loud, libs will scream "racist". They are clueless to the fact that savage describes BEHAVIOR rather than race.
Sounds like Boland didnt learn any lessons from his experience if he is still suggesting the same failed solutions leftys have proposed for generations. The problem is black culture which promotes single parent “families”, a victim mentality, racial hatred, lack of discipline, and violence. No one in govt is willing to face the real problem. You could spend $1 million dollars a classroom and nothing would improve.
Bingo. He apparently learned nothing from his foray into the classroom.
As for the existing problems, I don't see anyone described whose behavior couldn't be improved with a whip and few years picking cotton.
