Iraqi city of Ramadi, once home to 500,000, lies in ruins

RAMADI, Iraq - So complete was the destruction of Ramadi that a local reporter who had visited the city many times hardly recognized it.

"Honestly, this is the main street," Amaj Hamid, a member of Iraq's elite counterterrorism forces, told the TV crew as they entered from the southwest.

He swerved to avoid the aftermath of months of fighting: rubble, overturned cars and piles of twisted metal. Airstrikes and homemade bombs laid by the Islamic State group had shredded the poured-concrete walls and ceilings of the houses and shops along the road.

Maybe the Iraqi Army should have confronted ISIS while they were in the desert in pickup trucks.

And the Iraqis there are headed for Europe.

Islam doesn’t co-exist with Democracy.

Bush and Obama suffered from the same delusion. We needed the dictators to keep 1979 Iran from spreading throughout the region.

Yeah, I have to agree.

I hate to say it, but I'm starting to think that Saddam and Khadafi were brutal a-holes not because they liked it, but out of necessity.

I think that's at least a possibility.

Behold the world ruled by Islam. Destroy it before it destroys everything.

May be true for Assad too.

Also, Khadaffi wasn’t much of a threat to anyone. He had opened up to weapons inspections. Are the people of Libya better off now after Obama and Hillary went to war against them?

Personally, I didn’t consider Saddam much of a threat to us either.

Rulers in that region have to be brutal a-holes. The people are insane.

"We needed the dictators to keep 1979 Iran from spreading throughout the region."

Given the arbitrary borders of these countries, and their total lack of a sane social organizational structure, it takes a brutal, murderous dictator to keep any semblance of peace and order.

Hell, it takes that to even keep the lights on and water flowing.

There was a golden age in US History where we would pick a friendly dictator, give him the weapons and technology needed to maintain peace...and give him a free hand. All we wanted was stability, no commies and whatever commercial opportunities we could fairly negotiate.

Then came the ultimate do-gooder Jimmy Carter and he established a new normal in the Western world...one taken to a new level by Obama and Clinton.

Hey goat humpers! How you like your freedom and democracy now?

The US Government, in collusion with NATO governments, has committed a horrible crime against civilization and we have yet to see the full fruits.

THAT would have been the perfect time to have let the Warthogs run wild.

Basra Road II, but no.

Islam in the middle east occupies the old Hellenistic world. Which is to say that Islam took over the richest, most educated, most skilled and most advanced peoples on the planet in 700 AD. Recalled that Empire Constantine when he split the Roman Empire in 300ADist choice the eastern half for himself and build his capital in Constantinople. Well look at that once marvelous place now. It is an uncivilized dump, thanks to Islam.

But remember are cultures are equal./s

Outstanding point. Makes one look at things in a different manner. How are we dealing with the head-chopping hordes? Bombing the crap out of them (well the Rooskies are) just like ASSad is.

Interesting the war it is!

There are limits. Even in the Bible the people who are used to judge Israel go overboard in their destruction and are then destroyed themselves because they did more than take an eye for eye, they took a head for an eye. That is why Babylon is gone and may be why Damascus will be rubble.
