Several conservative voices who were once supportive of Donald Trump, or at least open to him, are bristling at his latest tactics. A significant number of conservatives found Trump to be close to their pugnacious-style communicative ideal and Cruz to be close to their conservative policy ideal, and they donât like watching the former beat up the latter on sketchy terms. âI donât think Ted Cruz has a great chance, to be honest with you,â Trump said this morning to ABC News âGeorge Stephanopoulos. âLook, the truth is, heâs a nasty guy. He was so nice to me. I mean, I knew it. I was watching. I kept saying, âCome on Ted. Letâs go, okay.â But heâs a nasty guy. Nobody likes him. Nobody in Congress likes him. Nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him. Heâs a very â- heâs got an edge thatâs not good. You canât make deals with people like that and itâs not a good thing. Itâs not a good thing for the country. Very nasty guy.â

Yes Rush does share a huge portion of the responsibility for where we are today. The massive amounts of positive earn media (by comparison, so massive that it makes the other candidates virtually zero my comparison) that Rush has showered on Trump has been bewildering. It's not hard to imagine things being quite different today had Rush's show had a different tone about Trump 6 months ago.
So the last election cycle we had a Northeastern liberal RINO running for the nomination. Rush Blasted Romney during the Primaries. This time we once again have another Northeastern liberal RINO running for the nomination. What's different now? One was from Massachusetts and the other from New York? Or is that that Romney wasn't the ratings booster that the Donald is?
Whatever, the deal... If Trumps wins and becomes the disaster that all the evidence suggest, then much of the blame will rest squarely on Rush's shoulders... and justly so.
Yes let’s take down Trump and elect Hillary.
I know that NYT Conservative David Brooks isn’t happy with Trump.
And Conservative George Will isn’t happy with Trump.
Conservative Hugh Hewitt isn’t on board either.
I’m not bothered.
Rush would vote for Cruz over Trump every time. Same with Mark.
They are conservatives.
Just take on Trump’s hyperbole words like “huge,” “amazing,” “wonderful,” etc. Put his face in it to belittle him back.
Rush understands a lot about politics, and what the country needs, and he WANTS TRUMP. As do I.
Rush, like many others is considered the most brilliant thinkers until they cross someone’s imaginary line. How fickle and transparent can you be?
I look forward to voting for President Trump and making American great again!
“If Trumps wins and becomes the disaster that all the evidence suggest”
Could you perhaps cite the evidence that suggests itself?
Could it be his successful company? Could it be his opposition to illegal immigration, Muslim refugees, trade deals, Corker bill, the de-industralization of the United States, etc.?
Trump has actually fought the media and left in this campaign as opposed to Romney and the GOP that refused to do anything other than capitulate. If you’ve listened to Rush, he’s used it as a teaching lesson from day one that none of the dire predictions from the usual beltway suspects have come true when he goes on the offensive.
Trump is now revealing again his political cutthroat instinct to destroy anything in his path and conservatives who have supported Ted Cruz always including Rush now know this.
It was good to watch Trump slice Jeb and the others up, but now Cruz. That leaves a bad taste for many of us.
The interesting question if Trump goes all the way is will he do the same to Hillary Clinton.
If Trump goes after Clinton, many in this forum will be happy and content and cheering Trump on.
The rule for the GOP for the past two decades should have been: If your state has not voted for the Republican candidate in two of the last four elections, you are not qualified to become a candidate.
Otherwise, Democrats can continue to choose the GOP nominee through their biased media and then unleash their corrupt election tactics that sees Philly precincts voting 110% Democrat, along with NYC precincts that don’t record a single Republican vote among thousands cast. The RNC deserves to go the way of the Whigs for being too stupid to survive in the current political fight.
Now you want to blame Rush? You seriously need to get a life.
You guys keep thinking "gee, if people only know Trump has been liberal in the past. . . . " Yet the SC poll today shows Trump is BEATING Cruz among those who consider themselves "very conservative.' Last three polls from Overtime in FL, GA, and (as I recall) VA showed similar results---if not a Trump lead among "very conservative," he's darn close.
Everyone knows who Trump was. Most think he has changed significantly in a lot of ways, while Cruz is exactly who he has always been: a "conservative" who can't get a damn thing done and who conveniently votes with the RINOs on all the key issues, then is given a pass because "he's only one guy." Won't fly anymore. I'll take my chances with Trump. I know I'm not getting much with Ted.
Limbaugh’s show has been a three-hour Trump infomercial. He golfs with Trump and enjoys being in the old boys’ club.
In view of that, his credibility has been damaged with me for quite a while, but after hearing his comments on Nikki Haley’s SOTU response, it’s at zero. He expressed surprise at her remarks & said he thought she was Tea Party.
And the referees cost the Packers the game last night.
I am unaware Rush has endorsed Trump for POTUS anyone else for that matter...
Do I need to list more? They have been NON-STOP attacking Trump for seven months. Wow.
I’d rather that happen then to pretend we have a conservative running for us tarnishing our already poor image
kind of sad if peoples’ votes were decided by a talk show host.
Ted lost me with the NY comment.
and i wont vote for any other guy besides Trump.
i HOPE he MEANS everything he says now, because the past was mixed with a lot of liberal lines AND a lot of conservative lines.
maybe he’s bipolar lol. i wouldn’t care as long as he does a great job.
i should talk. i switched between trump and cruz fifty times.
pitting states against each other is disgustingly divisive.
i’m still shocked he said that
DT doesn’t see Ted went to DC specifically NOT to be liked by The Big Boys Club?
Nasty guy is going to stick.
After the election in November of 2008, I was interviewed by Dominic Carter of New York 1 (who has recently, as of late 2009, gone through a great deal with spousal abuse) on his program called "Inside City Hall." New York 1 is an all-news program that is popular in New York City, and Dominic has a dynamic television presence. He describes me as "a man not known for keeping his opinions to himself," and we covered some interesting topics. Dominic asked about the election and I was honest about it. McCain was in an almost impossible situation. Bush had been so incompetent that any Republican would have a hard time unless they could bring back Eisenhower. Bush was a disaster for the country as well as for the Republican Party.
Then he asked me about Barack Obama. I told him that Barack will need to be a great president because we're in serious trouble as a country. It hasn't been this way since 1929. So he doesn't have much choice-he will simply have to be great, which he has a very good chance of being. What he has done is amazing. The fact that he accomplished what he has-in one year and against great odds-is truly phenomenal. If someone had asked me if a black man or woman could become president, I would have said yes, but not yet.
Barack Obama proved that determination combined with opportunity and intelligence can make things happenâand in an exceptional way. He is not walking into an easy or enviable situation. As of October of 2008, the U.S. government reported a $237 billion deficit. The good news is that Obama seems to be well aware of the situation. His comments have led me to believe that he understands how the economy works on a comprehensive level.
He has also surrounded himself with very competent people, and that's the mark of a strong leader. I have confidence he will do his best, and we have someone who is serious about resolving the problems we have and will be facing in the future. To me that is very good news. After 9/11, this country received a lot of compassion from countries and people around the world.
Within a short amount of time, however, we were hated. How did that happen? We had no dialogue with other countries because they just plain hated us. What's different today is that we have a new chance, a new beginning. The world is excited about Barack Obama and the new United States. Let's keep it that way.
