The only people who care about insults to New York are people who live in New York, which is NOT the center of the universe. The demographics of four of the five boroughs and much of the suburbs are way stacked against anyone even slightly right wing winning.

What the hell?

Cruz blasts "New York values", New York happens to have a handful of Jewish people (NYC is 8% Jewish according the latest estimate, the other 92% of the NYC population is non-Jewish, and votes just as liberal)... therefore Cruz's comments are "anti-Semitic". Huh?

Give me a break. This is as pathetic as when the left tried to claim the GOP "doesn't allow any non-Christians" because Eric Cantor lost his primary and happens to be Jewish.

I’ve heard libs say before that criticizing “New York” can be “code” for criticizing Jews. Needless to say, it’s absurd.

Come to think of it I think I heard it on the tv show “The West Wing” which was set in the alternate universe of Candyland.

Ah yes. Then liberals criticizing "Alabama voters" must be "code" for anti-Catholicism. We are, after all, a whooping 13% of the population down there. The fact the other 87% of Alabama is non-Catholic makes no difference. They are CLEARLY targeting Catholics when they make fun of Alabama.

Bashing people from Utah is anti-Catholic as well. Catholics are 10% of the population, making them a significant religious minority group in the state.

I think it’s based on the idea of Jews “running” NY, itself a conspiratorial anti-semitic notion.

In other words, classic liberal BS. Kudlow should be ashamed of himself.

Totally gay argument, Kudrow, et al.

Perhaps you are mistaken. This was economist Larry Kudlow (with an "l" in his last name) blasting Cruz for his "New York values" remark, NOT Kudrow (which is the name of an actress). Kudlow, BTW, is NOT Jewish. And he has been married to a woman for quite some time, so I presume he is NOT gay.

But despite his long-ago appointment as assistant budget director in the Reagan administration, he seems like his heart has been with the GOP establishment for quite some time. He has been a regular "conservative" on left-leaning CNBC. His rant against Cruz today on radio was out of character for him in so far as style is concerned. I don't recall any Democrat as a recipient of such a severe tongue-lashing from Kudlow as Cruz received today.

"It turns out that the percentage of New York City's and New York State's population that is Jewish has been on a downward spiral for 50 years."

They retired to Florida.

That's only a part of the exodus of Jews from New York. It included and still includes many younger people as well, some migrating to places in the Sun Belt other than Florida.

Kudlow lost all credibility with me when he kept championing/defending Bush's RINO Treasury Secretary appointments, and spent most of 2007-2008 firmly denying that the economy was tanking.

Ironically, Kudlow himself was a liberal Jew in the 1970s, then became a Republican in the 80s and converted to Catholic in the 2000s. The guy must be "anti-Semitic". ;-)

Let's see... Kudlow, Krauthammer, and Giuliani all rushing to Trump's defense and bashing Cruz over the "NY values" quip. Funny, didn't FReepers used to hate those guys?

Meanwhile... Levin, Rush, and McClintock all firmly supporting Cruz. Didn't FReepers used to love those guys?

Politics makes some strange bedfellows.

Far too many Jews have fallen into the trap of actually believing that the government will protect them. It never worked in Europe (even to this day,) it didn’t work in Czarist Russia, and it didn’t work in the USSR. The only place is the USA, and it’s the Constitution that’s protected Jews all these years in the USA, NOT the government.

But as we watch the government, and FAR too many people, reject the Constitution, those protections will end. I’ve read that the fastest growing religion in the USA is islam. That doesn’t bode well for Jews in the US, and quite frankly, the Jews are the “canary in the coal mine” for Christians as well.

Well said, Mark. Futhermore, it has become quite apparent that the bulk of anti-Semitic thought and action in the American political system now resides on the Left (which doesn't give a hoot about the Constitution), and the most anti-semitic demographic groups statistically are blacks, newly arrived Hispanics, and Muslim Arabs, which are all cogs in the Democratic Party coalition and are all pandered to by the current 'Rat administration.

Moved to NY (ok Long Island ) when I was 10. No offense but that place blows and the liberals ruled it then. Lesbian / homo teachers in elementary school is not the way kids need to learn these people exist but even worse to have to deal with this is normal BS. It was 1979 or so and I hated it and was so glad to leave. They were also the most prejudice group of ass holes ever. Wanted to put me a grade down just because I came up from the south. They honestly thought indoor plumbing might be fairly new to me. I didn’t know much about perversion, Jews, Italians, Polish, homos.... But I knew my reading writing and arithmetic better than they did at their grade. Long story short, I hated them and they hated me. Fair enough but values, I didn’t see any but the worship of money, perversion and segregation. JMHO.

New York State's population that is Jewish has been on a downward spiral for 50 years.
My Grandmother was part of that "exodus", she and so many of her old neighbors from daBronx lived out their years very comfortably in West Palm Beach. I used to think of that town as Pelham Parkway South. Also, growing up in Rockland I've seen once reasonable property taxes skyrocket to outrageous levels over the years. People tended to move further north into Orange and Sullivan to avoid the ridiculous prop taxes, and even up there the taxes are out of hand. There's plenty of stories of people who busted their you-know-whats to pay off their houses, only to realize when they're ready to retire they either must keep working or move. We're here in Spring Hill, FL and it may as well be renamed NEW New York. So, yeah even though I do miss New York, to an extent, I absolutely understand what Sen Cruz is saying and yet another reason he has my vote in the primary.

One by-product of "New York values" has been lot of projection when it comes to race relations and bigotry. I lived just 20 miles from NYC in Rockland and down the road from our house was a dilapidated old building, a tavern from the late 1800's that, until the 50's or so was used as a local klan meeting house. I remember my parents telling me nobody burned crosses in daBronx, only real estate offices on Pelham Parkway, Riverdale and other "good" neighborhoods that dared to show co-ops or townhouses to those "G-Ddamned n****rs" or "filthy sp*cs", that's what progressives call them when they think no one's paying attention. "oh sh*t, there goes the neighborhood" was an infamous battle cry, and still is wherever limo liberals live.

I was thinking of the right guy.... And I was (I believe) correct that he is no conservative. He is, as you may have been implying , at best a NY-republican, with all of the Wall Street, flash, money, country clubs, and dislike of those uncouth “social conservative” issues.

Ergo—he is the perfect pansy to be offended by Cruz’s comment about NY values.... Since Cruz was talking about liberal NY-ers... And that struck the liberal nerve in whoever is so inclined.

I meant the whole situation (liberals being upset about it) is “gay,” not that Kudlrlrlrow is gay. Though, Lisa Kudlrlrlrow (whichever one is right) is a Jewess and apparently has a fine Jewish son.

Shavua tov.
