This is what Trump is complaining about in the video you linked:

Yes it was passed by the DEMOCRAT congress as was the following. NOTE LAST PARAGRAPH
The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), Pub.L. 99–603, 100 Stat. 3445, enacted November 6, 1986, also known as the Simpson-Mazzoli Act, signed into law by Ronald Reagan on November 6, 1986, is an Act of Congress which reformed United States immigration law. The Act[1]

required employers to attest to their employees’ immigration status;
made it illegal to hire or recruit illegal immigrants knowingly;
legalized certain seasonal agricultural illegal immigrants, and;
legalized illegal immigrants who entered the United States before January 1, 1982 and had resided there continuously with the penalty of a fine, back taxes due, and admission of guilt; candidates were required to prove that they were not guilty of crimes, that they were in the country before January 1, 1982, and that they possessed minimal knowledge about U.S. history, government, and the English language.

"Cruz should have said "The values of '..those Liberals in New York'. But he didn't say that. I like Cruz and would support him enthusiastically but he served up a softball for Trump and Trump hit it out of the park. Admit it in move on."

"Those liberal politicians..." Because that is exactly the word apparently left off the debate prep card and the word that has been inserted into his apologia talking point.

Watching the replay, note Cruz looks down briefly to a note as he's giving the New York spiel ... which gives rise to this - why did Cruz buy into a lame talking point suggested at the last minute by his handlers?

"Cruz's "apology" seen at the video below shows that he had this strategy mapped out."

Right. Cruz wants to spend the weekend news cycles explaining away that comment. Right. Of course. It's genius.

Ugh, sorry I can’t finish watching it, the Queen of Smug Megyn Kelly just annoys me way too much.

Trump won over low information voters [many who are crossover voters during primaries], New Yorkers, and maybe even New Jersey voters.

But Cruz made a point at a macro level among informed conservatives.

So it’s kind of a wash.

The BIG WINNER? New York.

More city pride due to backlash against Cruz.

... and ...

An awakening about what NY values ought to be and have been.

It’s funny to have a bold safe-borders candidate who appeals to low-information voters.

I get the feeling I’m not the only one feeling a little off-balance over that.

Thank you for this reminder. Trump is and always will be a Manhattanite. If and when he wins the presidency his SCOTUS nominations will reflect his “New York values”. No doubt about it.

"Should we ever have a Muslim candidate, this whole submission to Allah business will be a serious issue vs. layalty to the Constitution."

What is 2007 like, and is it warm there?

Cruz is now running against New York City Values, not Donald Trump.

Which do Republican Primary Voters support:

New York City Values or Consistent Conservatism?

The second post is the telling one: the political establishment hates Trump. But they”re terrified of Bernie. With their favored candidate, her thighness, about to lose or possibly be indicted, they’re looking to negotiate terms. They’re throwing in the towel. Watch things move very fast now.

Murdoch is smart and honest every now and then.

Once again, a few readers have deciphered what is in Cruz’s mind, thereby determining EXACTLY what he said about New Yorkers. Trump took great exception to that no doubt about it. Cruz needed to clarify his statement a bit better.

Certainly the people of New York have different ways of expressing themselves and can be rude, opinionated and obnoxious (like me), but for the record I would state there a lot of really great people there.

They”re about to be handed their asses. Both at the election polls and then a little later here.

See tagline.

Quote from NY Gov. Cuomo, 2014:
“Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.
http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/203801/cuomo-extreme-conservatives-have-no-place-in-the-state-of-new-york/

Cuomo had no problems alienating his own state’s conservatives, along with every other conservative in the nation. Now he’s demanding Cruz apologize for criticizing NY liberals.

I don’t think Cruz was depending on NY votes anyway.

Cruz: “I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by liberal politicians in that state.”

Yep. Folks forgot one of the basic truths about FR: it’s a conservative website and not reflective of the views of the public at large. If it were, dear leader would have never been elected in the first place.

What the howlers miss is that what they interpret as a brilliant, striking blow was not viewed that way at all by the folks watching. Or if they do realize it, they’re in extreme denial.

Murdochs comment upthread is very telling. Things will move fast now as support consolidates behind the frontrunner. The establishment hates Trump. But they view Bernie as being much worse.
