Report: SCOTUS call on immigration appeal may come soon

The Supreme Court could announce as early as Friday if it will be taking up President Obama's appeal to save his executive action on immigration, according to a Reuters report.

The news service reported early Friday that the nine Supreme Court justices were set to meet privately on whether to hear the White House appeal to a pair of lower court rulings that found invalid Obama's move to shield 4 million immigrants from deportation.

Declining to hear the case would effectively kill the program, whereas taking it up would immediately make it one of the most-watched cases of the court's current term.

Twenty-six GOP-led states sued to stop Obama's 2014 executive action, which bypassed Congress to prevent the deportation of 4 million immigrations with no criminal records and children who are U.S. citizens.

A Texas court and the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Obama had exceeded his authority with the move.

The court's decision could come as soon as Friday afternoon.

Hmmmm..... Don't see NY or CA or WA or other Democrat states helping the fight against illegal immigration.

January 27, 2015: "..TEXAS and the other 25 states are asking [TEXAS] Judge Hanen to issue an injunction that would stop Obama from giving out any work permits before the program gets up and running in May.

If Obama's amnesty does stand it will cost taxpayers billions in tax credits every year.

With Tennessee and Nevada, the full list of 26 states suing Obama over his executive amnesty are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, [Texas], Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin.".....

May 3, 2015: Justice Department checked with White House before telling immigration judge amnesty already begun "....."In documents filed with the court, the attorneys said more than 1,500 Homeland Security employees knew the three-year part of the amnesty was in effect as of November.

The Justice Department attorneys are trying to avoid a reprimand from [TEXAS]Judge Hanen, who has expressed surprise that the administration was carrying out any part of the amnesty, despite telling him in both filings and during a hearing that the amnesty program wouldn't begin until February.

[TEXAS] Judge Hanen issued an injunction blocking the full amnesty on Feb. 16, two days before it was to take effect. The administration two weeks later informed the judge that it already was carrying out a part of the amnesty.

"We sincerely regret the misunderstanding that the government's statements inadvertently caused, and hope that this submission fully resolves the issue," the administration said in its brief.

November 10, 2015: A federal appeals court has upheld a lower-court ruling blocking the Obama administration from giving protection from deportation to undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children and to undocumented parents of U.S. citizens. White House officials were "expecting" the Monday 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling, the New York Times says, which affirmed the February decision of a Texas-based federal judge (Texas is the lead plaintiff in the case) and will be appealed to the Supreme Court. My prediction: The decision will be 5-4.

With either Roberts or Kennedy casting the deciding vote.

Well, ONE good thing *may* come from this illegal fiasco:

There might begin the call to dismantle the illegal, unconstitutional Welfare State.

One can dream...

Well, here’s hoping SCOTUS does the right thing but I’m not holding my breath. That said, I would be surprised if at least 4 justices don’t vote conservatively on this. The big question is Kennedy who is essentially a libertarian Republican. They should do the right thing and block Obama from his illegal actions. Let’s hope they do.

“the nine Supreme Court justices were set to meet privately”

I have a problem with this. They should not ever meet and discuss any case privately. There should be a public record of everything said and done.

I just read a report that the SC did NOT look at this case today. So will they still consider it?

L4B can count on littleman Roberts to do as he is told. The outcome is already determined with barry hold Roberts’s blackmail file.

It certainly doesn’t look like they’re in any rush to do so. So it’s at least a good sign, I guess.
