A Soldier’s Mother: Why French Jews are Lobsters
Jewish Press ^ | January 14th, 2016 | Paula R. Stern

Let me put the pieces for you together...slowly now. Perhaps what seems like common sense to me, isn't so obvious. Or, more likely, it is obvious but you are hesitating. Years ago, I sat in a lunchroom at Columbia University to hear an Israeli speak about moving to Israel. His name was Yaakov Kirschen and he is the amazingly talented artist behind the Dry Bones cartoons.

Kirschen told a story about lobsters - something that observant Jews to not eat...but his point was what mattered. He explained that he had wanted to purchase lobster salad, but the store was closed, so instead he took two live lobsters home and tried to cook them. He put water on the stove, let it heat up, and then attempted to put the lobsters in...but they kept crawling out. And then someone came and explained to him the proper way to cook lobsters, which are cold-blooded things.

You put them in a nice big pot of cold water. Put on the cover...and then turn the flame up. The water will get warm but the lobster will think, "it was cold before; it will be cold again...I'll just sit here."

Then it begins to get hot...and hotter...and very hot...and each time, the lobster thinks, "it was cold before; it will be cold again...I'll just sit here." And pretty soon, Kirschen explained, he had cooked lobsters.

Why was he telling this story to a bunch of religious kids at Columbia University. "You're all lobsters," he said. And my heart fell because I knew that he was right. I knew it then; I know it now.

To the French Jews - you are all lobsters. You stay in a place where the water is getting hotter and hotter.

1. I googled "terror attacks jews france" and got over 12 million hits.

2. A Jewish teacher was just assaulted in Marseilles...now, and two months ago...

3. A Jewish deli in Paris was attacked and four people were murdered - not randomly, as the Chief Idiot of Washington would have you believe.

4. A Jewish father and two children were murdered in Paris.

5. Jews are now...yesterday...being told not to wear kippot (yarmulka/skull caps) in Marseilles.

Yes, I know that many French Jews have already moved to Israel in the last year and more are planning to come this year than ever before...it isn't enough. It isn't fast enough.

In a land where you cannot light a menorah...yes, yes...in the end, it was done under a massive police presence; in a land where you cannot wear a kippah - this is a land where Jews should not live.

Former President Nicolas Sarkozy says that France did not fight the Germans just so the Jews could now be forced to leave...personally, I don't remember the French fighting the Nazis, but never mind - that is France's problem, not ours. In a land where Jews cannot freely and safely live as Jews, the water is already too hot.

We all wish the German Jews...the European Jews...could have imagined what Hitler was going to do; that they would have believed his words, his promises, and chosen to leave before the gates of Europe, America, British-Mandated Palestine and elsewhere were slammed shut. We have no excuse now not to believe it is possible, even likely, that more and more Jews will die in the streets of Europe in the coming days, weeks, and months. In 1933...there was no real option. In 2016...there is only one real option.

Never again, will the gates of our holy land be closed to Jews - that was the promise made on May 14, 1948 and it is the promise each of our sons and daughters make when they wear the uniform of the Israel Defense Forces.

The gates are open...the planes are waiting. Israel is not another world...it's a short flight. Get. Out. Now.

We were in Paris this past summer and spent some time in the largest Jewish neighborhood. The sight of heavily armed patrols by the army and Foreign Legion were very distressing. The author of this piece is right on the money. That is no way to live.

There is a Jewish school not far from where I live in California. For many years, they have had huge, burly guards dressed all in black stationed at the entrance to and exit from the parking lot. Most people hereabouts think they are well-armed ex-IDF.

What an excellent story and analogy.
We are all lobsters, consentually boiling away in a pot of our own making.

There was a school shooter a few years ago who was seen in security videos driving past schools with armed guards until he found one with no guards. That is the one he chose to shoot up.

? I boil the water and drop the live lobsters in. If it's in a rapid boil, the lobster die before they know what hit them. No crawling out.

The analogy is true, though, if they used the Boiling Frog.

With Iran eagerly developing nukes and promising to use them in yet another “Final Solution” to the “Jewish Problem”, I’m not sure that recommending that they all cluster in one very convenient and surrounded and ever-targeted area is the best idea... just sayin’...

I’ve dropped them into a pot of boiling water and in most cases they just move down toward the bottom. The only time I’ve ever gotten a reaction from a lobster is when I tried to kill one “humanely” by stabbing it behind the head. It threw all its legs out suddenly and dramatically and started thrashing violently about. “To hell with humane,” I said, whereupon I picked it up and tossed it into the pot. It went quietly.

The lobster story is cute but has no basis in fact....every lobster I have ever witnessed cook was submerged in boiling water!!!

I had always heard that the French Foreign Legion was not ever to be deployed inside France proper.

Things have gotten that bad, apparently. Once upon a time the Foreign Legion battled Muslims in North Africa & the Maghreb.

Now the Muslims have come home to roost in the French homeland. The Foreign Legion was renowned for going take-no-prisoners when necessary. They need to again.

Civilization versus barbarism, it’s that simple.

The Jews in Europe and the rest of the world (including the U.S. had best make Aliyah to Israel while they can.

We're living in the last days. It is written....

God bless Israel and his chosen people. May God have mercy on America, though we, as a nation, certainly don't deserve it.

Good analogy, bad cooking lesson. Plunge the lobsters headfirst into rapidly boiling water and they NEVER climb out; they’re dead and cooking in a second or two.

So another thing the Jews (or anyone in danger of oppression) have to fear is that pot coming to a boil nearby.

I had always heard that the French Foreign Legion was not ever to be deployed inside France proper.

A friend who lives in Paris told me that it is both regular army and Foreign Legion. I couldn't tell which they were myself but I saw a patrol of 8 soldiers and they looked like they were ready for war. Very formidable, but the fact that such a thing is even necessary in a major world capital speaks volumes.

If French Jews flee en masse to Israel, then France will suffer a major brain drain which will weaken the popular will to resist Islam even further.

Charles DeGaulle was no friend to Israel after the 1967 six day war, and drawing France’s Jews toward making Aliyah to Israel would be the best revenge that is served cold.

The great irony of all this is that the emotional reasons behind multiculturalism in Europe was to prove they were not the racists they once were, so they opened the gates to the closest 3rd world, which is the Muslim world.

So in order to NOT be bigoted & antisemitic, they let in bigots and antisemites of the harshest sort, who have now balkanized and changed their societies to tolerate the new bigots—meanwhile on the far (far) right, feeding the racial stereotypes they’ve been seeking to avoid.

(Of course the practical reason for mass immigration/multiculturalism was a growing economy needs a growing population—and selfish Europeans aren’t having enough kids...)

Yes, before they capitulated and the government allied with Germany. I’ll leave out the Brit’s unhappiness at the surrender. They put up, briefly, strong opposition to Operation Torch in Oman and Morocco. Americans died. And at sea, though even less effectively. I’ll draw a distinction between the French government and the people, many of which fought the occupation at great risk of life. Many losing their lives. But the French government did ally with Germany, did save the Germans the chore of rounding up Jews. And the population, not the government, did exact retribution against collaborators at wars end. But that’s not the government.

Don't know the specific incident you're refering to, but assuming terrorists and mass murderers are stupid is a mistake. Often fatal.
