Ted Cruz Didn’t Disclose Loan From Goldman Sachs for His First Senate Campaign
New York Times ^ | January 13, 2016 | Mike McIntire

Posted on 01/13/2016 3:50:20 PM PST by Alter Kaker

As Ted Cruz tells it, the story of how he financed his upstart campaign for the United States Senate four years ago is an endearing example of loyalty and shared sacrifice between a married couple.

"Sweetheart, I’d like us to liquidate our entire net worth, liquid net worth, and put it into the campaign," he says he told his wife, Heidi, who readily agreed.

But the couple’s decision to pump more than $1 million into Mr. Cruz’s successful Tea Party-darling Senate bid in Texas was made easier by a large loan from Goldman Sachs, where Mrs. Cruz works. That loan was not disclosed in campaign finance reports.

“A loan you have to pay back, is not a donation to be reported.”

Uh, apparently not:

“The failure to report the Goldman Sachs loan, for as much as $500,000, was “inadvertent”, she said, adding that the campaign would file corrected reports as necessary”

“Trump did roll personal debt into those bankruptcies.”

Do you own a credit card?
Have you ever taken a loan from a bank in your life(which you have to pay back on full)?
Viola! You are a member of the Washington cartel!

Candidates take out bank loans all the time to help finance their campaigns. This is news let along breaking news. It should be removed from the breaking news bar

They are totally blind to the fact that it's the MSM that has been propping up Trump this whole time. The reason he is leading the polls is because the press reports on him 24/7, and not in a bad way. It is as if they want him to be the GOP nominee.

Come to think of it, they were the same way with Romney four years ago and McCain four years before that. But once the GOP convention gets here, all bets are off.

“Cruz belongs to the most powerful cult of all. Goldman Sachs.”

There is one that bothers me more. This is quite the recipient club.

Lawyers / Law Firms: Top Recipients

Clinton, Hillary (D) $7,101,091 WHAT can I say??
Bush, Jeb (R) $1,311,555.....go Jeb! LOL
Harris, Kamala D (D-CA) $739,088
Schumer, Charles E (D-NY) $734,322
Cruz, Ted (R) $644,659
Rubio, Marco (R) $576,185

METHODOLOGY: The numbers on this page are based on contributions from PACs and individuals giving $200 or more.
All donations took place during the 2015-2016 election cycle and were released by the Federal Election Commission on Friday, October 16, 2015.
In the 2014 election cycle, the industry contributed over $120 million to federal political candidates and interests, 70 percent of which went to Democrats. https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/recips.php?cycle=2016&ind=K01

Yeah everyone gets a loan from Goldman at least once in their life. I hear Mr. Goldman meets with you personally. No loan too small. Haha!

“The anti-Cruz people are rabid, indeed.”

Have you had your shots? LMBO

You guys throw out bait like that and then question why anyone takes it.

Curious.

Next, you will be telling me that his company declared bankruptcy. Oh, wait . . .

Well given the fact he never had one it would be an impossible, wouldn't it?

Trump has had over 400 last I read.

Can you zealots just stop with the nonsense?

OFFS, one of them is going to be the nominee, get it?

Neither one is going to fix the course this country has been on for the last 100 years, but whichever one gets in can hopefully begin reversing the course. We need one of the two to shake DC and it's corruption to the core, if not now, more than likely it will be never.

Grow up, this place has been reduced to a bunch of sniveling juveniles to childish to even be objective in what is the ultimate goal.

I read the article and the loan was guaranteed by investment money that the Cruz’s already had in a money market account. In other words, they bank had virtually no risk so yes they would grant that loan every single time.

How does one get a loan from an employer that large?

I think the smell would probably reach exit 82.
