'Just fed up w objectification of women in media'
A sports writer and New York Times best-selling author named Jeff Pearlman was pushed into a quasi-apology after saying, via Twitter, Fox News female correspondents dressed as "hookers," per order of their bosses.
He posted, alongside a photo of the female crew of Fox's well-watched "Outnumbered" this text: "Serious question: do women on Fox News get extra money for dressing as hookers? Just embarrassing."
In another tweet, Pearlman wrote: "Just fed up w objectification of women in media. It's tired, old, widespread, not cool. #done."
As Mediaite found, another named Steve Krakauer, @SteveKrak, weighed in with criticism: "@jeffpearlman Calling journalists 'hookers' is precisely the objectification of women you're talking about."
And Pearlman's response: "@SteveKrak Steve, I did NOT call the women hookers. I said Fox News has its women dress like them. Which it does. Degrades women journalists."
It wasn't long before another jumped in the fray, asking "@jeffpearlman a skirt makes you a hooker? thats the equivalent of calling you a lifeguard if you wear a red bathing suit," Mediaite found.
Pearlman said his only point was to out the network for "treat[ing] women like objects," which he said via tweet was "a disgrace to legit women reporters."
He went on, in another Twitter post: "Let me re-phrase: are tons of women journalists busting asses w skill, doggedness, professionalism. Fox News CLEARLY after looks, wardrobe."
Ultimately, Pearlman retreated a bit.
He wrote: "Ok, I admit, bad Tweet, removed. I just really object to Fox News' approach. But that's not the on-air person's fault."

Both of my daughters read The Times—none of my sons do.
.
He’s probably just jealous, or envious, he can’t look as good in a dress.
Personally, I’ve been a leg man since the sixties. I grew up when miniskirts were coming into fashion. Even as a pre pubescent boy - I liked it. :-)
Since when is any anchor on any channel a reporter. They are story regurgitators, nothing more.
Checkered pajamas.
(See Pajama Boy.)
My local ABC Weather Girl, wore these stripper/porn shoes Monday & Tuesday:
I kinda agree with this guy, but then again, its been over a decade since I realized that Fox News was a joke.
Guilty as charged until pics come forward
They do look trashy. Too bad, too, because so many of them are extremely intelligent and highly educated. (Didn’t Jamie Colby start college at age 14 or something?) Their dress detracts from their credibility.
The FOX women do not dress like “hookers”, but there definitely seems to be a ‘uniform’ or consistent way of dressing. One-piece dresses (usually a ‘sheath’ style) that show some good bit of leg are definitely part of it. Necklines are not usually low enough to show cleavage, but they are not way up around the neck. Sleeves are frequently cap sleeves or the dresses are sleeveless. Shoes are very high heeled and designer (goes with showing the leg). For those that sit behind a desk (Megyn Kelly, Judge Jeanine come immediately to mind), the desk fronts are open to show off legs/shoes. JJ makes a point of specifically showing off her shoes for each show (Facebook, sometimes on air). On The Five, Kimberly sits on the side so you can see her legs & shoes.
Just a few observations ..... YMMV.
All of the stations do it now - wonder why he only singled out Fox? Hmmmm....could it be their politics?
The women on Fox have looked ludicrous for years now. They started off pretty and blond and now look like they fell into a vat of MAC makeup and dresses more appropriate for a wild party. When I saw Laura Ingraham forced to wear false eyelashes the other day, I knew Fox had jumped the shark. The only one who looks professionally dressed is Greta. I’m no prude about women’s attire and no lib either.
Isn't that a microagression? Sexist pig.
I agree with him too. As a matter of fact, I sent a Tweet about the FOX women and their unprofessional dress probably a year ago. Don’t watch FOX anymore because of the Kelly debate stuff.
His boyfriend agrees.
Clearly he’s never seen a real hooker. The Fox News gals look WAAAAAAY better than actual hookers.
Oh boy.
He likes that the little boy Mika over at MSNBC.
That’s easy both.
“On The Five, Kimberly sits on the side so you can see her legs & shoes.”
She wears shoes?
She has feet?
