Uh oh...maybe the voters aren’t that astute/high info after all. Maybe they DO need the Constitution to protect them from at least one array of ignorant, destructive POTUS choices.

Hmm.

My argument is that you will insist that matters of far greater importance not be addressed in order to insure that a matter of far less consequence is.

Another manner of putting it is "Penny wise and pound foolish."

Two NBC parents in the service of their country born in a US territory is good enough for me.

The parents don't have to be NBCs, naturalized citizens suffices.

Your reasoning mirrors the 1790 law, the only place I know of where natural born citizen was defined by law.

This law was repealed a few years later.

Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan.
Ronald Reagan was a Republican for considerably a long time before becoming president.
Donald Trump has supported and donated to Democrats as recent as 2010 - Harry Reid!
(when he was registered as a Republican.)

You expect me to believe this guy from New York City has suddenly turned into this ultimate conservative.

Ronald Reagan:
President: 1981-1989
Republican (1962 and after)
Democratic (before 1962)

Donald Trump began his career as a little bit of everything. But mainly he identify's mostly as a democrat.

Donald Trump:
Republican (2012–present)
Independent (2011–12)
Republican (2009–11)
Democratic (2001–09)
Reform (1999–2001)
Republican (1987–99)
Democratic (Before–1987)

Why the heck are you saying eligibility for President is of no consequence??? Go down that slippery slope, and you’ll give up our sovereignty.

Being a natural born citizen does not necessarily protect us from divided loyalties.

No, but it is a useful filter.

Imagine a world where Panamanian born McCain was elected.

Should the enemies of the US stir up trouble in Panama, anything McCain did or didn't do would be called into question by the opposition party.

McCain wasn't born in the Canal Zone, he was born in Panama proper.

This is incorrect. He was born in the Coco Solo Naval hospital. The log books for the hospital have his birth certificated doctor as working there at that time.

This allegation has been debunked. The Washington Post had a reporter look into it, and they've posted the documents which should convince any rational person that this rumor (started and spread by Democrats) is false.

Even if it were true, the Law of Nations states that the foreign born children of citizens serving in the armed forces of a nation are natural citizens.

Only natural born citizens, born on soil to two citizen parents, may serve as POTUS.

That would certainly clear up things! I’m getting tired of this argument and the broadband space it takes up with the cut and paste artists.

The 1790 law does not define NBC all it says is that children of citizens born abroad shall be considered as natural born citizen. That is not a definition. Also note that at the time citizenship of the couple (and the child) was determined by the father. I women gained the citizenship of her husband. If the husband was a US citizen then so was his wife and so was his child.

Hear me clearly. I am not saying it is of "no consequence." I am saying it is of LESSER consequence than the issues which desperately need to be addressed.

The Federal Judiciary is a horrible crises. Ted Cruz is the only candidate that I see as fixing it. No other candidate will appoint strictly conservative judges. None.

When you compare the one crises to the other, the Article II issue is of by far of lesser importance. On top of that, the Article II issue is effectively dead anyways. Virtually all the legal "experts" are in agreement in their ignorance.

Since they believe what they do, then it is a virtual certainty that all the judges will believe it as well. We've already seen a host of judicial rulings (in the case of Obama) indicating the idiocy is widespread.

In court, Ted Cruz is likely going to win. There is just that much ignorance and idiocy out there.

Why bother? He's the best man to solve our worst problem. Might as well put the more important cause ahead of the lesser (and apparently unwinnable) cause.

Ok, so the NBC definition is determined the term US citizen doesn’t reach the high bar. What difference does it make when those who are TBTB at the time don’t care. They like the man and will see to it that no matter what they want that man in charge. It was thought when 0, our dark won was traveling down this road our congress critters, important all knowing agencies would see fit to tell WTP the truth about him....9 years later only a few crickets are heard but where were they when they were needed? This country is NOT in safe hands when men of this type ...sycophant congress critters are elected and sitting on the throne of power. They are as devious and self serving as any bum pickpocket on the crowded streets of rioters.

McCain was born in Colon Hospital, city of Colon, Panama.

Not In the Canal Zone.

That being said, he would have made a pretty good president. I even voted for him, m’self.

” I’m just saying that since we let Obama get away with it implement rampant liberal insanity, we should let Ted Cruz get away with it”

I am really surprised that you would have this position.

We can’t chip away our last protection, not for anyone.

It is exactly because we DO grasp the current crisis that we must hold firm on this requirement of natural born. We are right now at the most dangerous point, where giving away this one little thing seems like a “small price to pay” in exchange for a candidate you have trust in. Meanwhile the vultures on the left cackle and watch with a gleam in their eyes hoping that the CONSERVATIVES will make the case for amending this one last obstacle which guarantees our sovereignty as a people and a nation. You think the liberals aren’t hoping that the conservatives clamor for the amendment of that clause? They are salivating.

“Is it still needed? or should it be amended?”

Obama has been president for seven years, and you think there is a question of the wisdom of the requirement? That is not taking into consideration just the common sense of the requirement.
