I hope you’re through with it for your sake. It got pretty ugly down there in a hurry.
El Nino winters are dicey. I’m more concerned sbout getting hit with an ice storm than snow this winter. Been there, done that, and don’t want any more t-shirts!

Me either! We had that last January and it just about broke every tree in town. People are still trying to deal with all the poor dead things. Our trees weren’t made for ice. Nor our drivers!

We even closed the store for 3 days...unHEARD of! Really.

There were a couple of ice storms last year in TN but we weren’t hit. WHEW!

The one that I got caught in was in ‘98. It hit the night before Christmas Eve and some areas were without power for three weeks. I guess I was fortunate to only go five days without it but it felt like an eternity.

Like your area, trees were down everywhere and it took a loooooooong time to clean everything up.

Here’s hoping for NO ice storms this year!

I gather you got home without any problems? Did your mom enjoy a nice big glass of chok-lit milk? :-)

Home safely, but the road is trying to ice over, with more sprinkles as I drove home. Now it’s 28 and the ice has started.

Chocolate milk is the one thing she doesn’t keep changing her mind about. I’ve had to learn to only buy one something she wants no matter what she says. As much as she wanted the first one, now the second may just sit.

Glad you made it home before this round of ice started. Sounds like the roads were already bad enough as it was.
I thought we were going to get some flurries but it all fizzled before it got here. YAY!

How well I understand and sympathize with what you’re dealing with. We went through several of the same things with Hubby’s aunt before she went to the nursing home.
Just one more day of dealing with it alone and you’ll have some help for a little while!

Yes! I’ll post my thread Wednesday night as usual and just stay there until she calls to say they landed. Then off for the airport and she gets her luggage. The timing works pretty well and I just pick her up at the curb.

We still had the suburban when my Dad passed away. I told her I’d be driving it. I could see her waiting at the curb, but I couldn’t get near enough for a honk. So I drove around the airport again and called her on the way. She saw a white one, but thought she was looking for a blue one. We had a good laugh. 4 lanes drive by the arrival doors, but it is sometimes REALLY hard to make it to an inside one. And there are always airport police telling you to move along. There is NO waiting! Stop, load passengers, and luggage and get going.

Sounds like you have it all worked out. Hope it goes as smoothly as you plan it. FOUR lanes at the arrival doors? Yeowy! Sounds a bit dangerous when you’re trying to drop off or pick up someone, especially when you have the police telling you to keep moving. Nothing like playing Dodge-’Em while carrying luggage. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Lots of BOOMS going on here, and every night for the last week. Fort Richardson is conducting mortar training.

Thankfully Arrivals and Departures are on different levels. The fourth lane never has folks stopping, but it is interesting for folks using that lane to get closer and closer to the pick up curb area. It can get pretty dicey playing dodge ‘em trying to get closer to and away from it.

At first I thought you were having thunder snow/ice until I read the rest of the sentence. LOL!

I used to enjoy all the BOOMS during training when I was at Camp Lejeune with my first hubby.
There was something going on around Hurlburt Field when we were in FL last summer for Dad’s memorial service. Lotta BOOMS then. One of few pleasant things about that trip. Love me some BOOMS.

Well, that helps a little but still, it must be an “adventure” trying to get in and out of there.

Agreed....the sound of freedom, and close by.

So far we’ve fought off some base closures. I find it hard to understand how those that understand the need to protect the United States would start in Alaska with Russia, North Korea, and China so close.
