Truth be told, they’re not the least bit interested in getting “problem” guns out of the hands of the people that shouldn’t have them.

If they were truly interested in reducing “gun violence”, they’d target the people that by law, are already prohibited from possessing firearms, like probationers and parolees. Imagine how many guns they might recover by conducting unannounced searches and seizures of convicted criminals houses, apartments, or wherever they may find them.

There’s no such thing as an illegal search of a convicted criminal under the conditions of active probation or parole. Not only would that remove guns from those that shouldn’t have them, it would act as motivation to obey the law, or returning those to prison that are failing to abide by their conditions of release from custody.

No, the real reason for the Left’s assault on the second amendment is their thirst for more power and control of US. After all, if everyday American citizens can no longer defend ourselves, we’ll be begging for more and bigger government (more police, more government and more of everyone associated with the industry) to protect us helpless subjects from the bad guys they’ve empowered.

It’s win/win for them.

Yeah, but they’re losing.

Exactly. He is a liar (as if you didn’t already know that). As a former “constitutional law professor” he knows that people on probation or on parole for serious crimes have already agreed as condition for their release to surrender certain rights involving search. Police don’t need a warrant to search a parolee or his residence. If you want to get guns out of the hands of criminals, you get the guns in the hands of criminals by launching an offensive to stop and search them randomly and aggressively. You don’t get guns out of the hands of criminals by making it harder and more expensive for the law abiding to exercise their enumerated rights.

Didn’t mean to just repeat what you said. Lol. I wanted to add that this whole charade is wrapped in a lie. He says he doesn’t want to infringe your rights but that these unilateral actions are needed to stop violence. Yet they overlook the most obvious path to disarming criminals in favor of restrictions and new costs thrust upon the law abiding. Either they are stupid, or they think we are.

Requiring permits to own a printing press and a transfer tax on pens and paper would never stand. Somehow though these ‘liberals’ think nothing of infringing on the enumerated 2A right in a manner they would never accept if applied to 1A.

That is part of the approach that David Kennedy has been promoting. Actual violent felons are a very small segment of the population, even in big cities.

He says .5% of the population commits 75% of the murders.

Concentrate on them, and the murder rate is cut in half.

It works, but must be constantly maintained. Stop doing it, and the murder rate goes back up.
