Country musician Loretta Lynn to Trump: Call me
Reuters ^ | January 9, 2016 | By Emily Flitter

Posted on 01/11/2016 5:14:47 AM PST by 11th_VA

The highest-profile celebrity to weigh in on Donald Trump this week may not be the actor Samuel L. Jackson after all.

Country singer Loretta Lynn, a legend in Nashville whose life story was told in the movie Coal Miner’s Daughter, is also talking about the Republican presidential front runner – and she loves him.

“Trump has sold me – what more can I say?” Lynn told me over the phone just before the start of Trump’s rally Thursday in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Lynn’s friend, Phyllis Jones, 71, had driven to Rock Hill from nearby Charlotte, North Carolina and had called her famous pal while she waited for Trump to appear.

Lynn, 83, who penned and recorded country hits like “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “The Pill” and “Rated X,” still performs between eight and 10 shows a month. She said she has been stumping for Trump at the end of each show, and declared her support for him at an awards dinner in New York in early December.

She said her audiences generally respond warmly to her cheers for Trump, and that’s unusual.

“When you get up there and try to say you want to see Hillary Clinton win, that wouldn’t go over so big,” she said.

Other Republicans can’t live up to the real estate mogul, Lynn said, but Texas Senator Ted Cruz would be her second choice.

However, she said: “When you’re advertising for the best, forget the rest!”

Lynn added that she wants to campaign for him.

“I just think he’s the only one who’s going to turn this country around,” she said, but added she had no plans to try to contact Trump herself. “I’m going to let him call me.”

I’d like to hear the details of HOW Trump wants to “make America great again.”

He can’t rule by dictate. What is his plan?

Seriously? I'll sum it up for you. 'Blue Collar' worker's have gotten shafted by NAFTA the last 25 years. All the promises of 'open borders' and 'free trade' has worked against the interests of American workers.

Trump will reshuffle the deck, and change the whole manufacturing model for the world, and act in ways that will bring factory jobs back to America.

He’s not going to disclose all of his plans. You libs would have a field day cherry picking and out-of-contexting his every remark.

Nobody asked Obama to detail his plans, if they had, we wouldn’t have Obamacare, and he probably wouldn’t have even been elected.

A candidate lays out his overall goals, beliefs, and abilities. You can’t report details of a presidency that hasn’t even occurred yet. Get real!

If you look hard enough, you can find perceived negatives about anyone, but you can’t predict the race until after it has been run.

Trump needs some rally music that’s not copyrighted. Loretta do your thing. If I could sing or right music I’d gladly provide the music for free. Just the publicity would be a gold mine.

Professional politicians run the country on a 2 and 4 year lying cycle. Nothing changes. Time for a change. I’m voting for Trump.

Correct. Someone came up with that talking point about six hours after Trump announced his candidacy. When people repeat it, they think they are being so perceptive. They never stop to think how it is that Trump is being attacked by all so severely if he has not mentioned his agenda.

[He’s not going to disclose all of his plans.]

Yes, whenever he does give details, some candidate further down the ladder adopts the same stance and tries to claim it as their own. Example: Immigration

Best Line of the article.

She said her audiences generally respond warmly to her cheers for Trump, and that's unusual.

"When you get up there and try to say you want to see Hillary Clinton win, that wouldn't go over so big," she said.

You just made the case for the poster who wants to know how Trump plans on “Making America Great again.”

You’re right. Nobody asked questions of BHO in 2008 and look what we ended up with.

My dem wife and I are going on a country music cruise this week. I am sure she will be dismayed at the political accompaniment.
I found a cool patch for my hat that says “VIRGINIA roots” in green with the roots drawn, not printed.
My Mom was born in VA. We spent every summer there and I started grade school there. 3 GGpaps served VA.
. My Mom Loved Sen McCarthey so I know she would like Trump.

I love this lady! Years ago, when my grandmother received her terminal diagnosis of liver cancer after suffering through breast cancer, she went through a severe depression. She stopped eating, drinking, talking and laughing and just stared out the window. One of the nursing staff had given me a copy of Loretta Lynn’s cassette that had a song called The Pill. I put the cassette in and fast forwarded to that song. Halfway through the song I looked over at my grandmother and she was tapping her fingers to the beat and had a big smile on her on her face. She turned and looked at me and started laughing. I got those last moments of happiness from my grandmother before she died a few days later because of Loretta Lynn. I will never forget that.

For a start, Trump can nullify all of Hussein’s Executive Orders in one fell swoop.

If Obama can “rule by dictate”, why can’t every President? Of course, he won’t and shouldn’t, but it’s just a question, FWIW.

Do any of the other candidates have a better plan or a plan at all. If so what are the details?
