Germany on the Brink
The New York Times ^ | January 9, 2016 | Ross Dothan

Posted on 01/11/2016 5:11:38 AM PST by Petrosius

On New Year's Eve, in the shadow of Cologne's cathedral, crowds of North African and Middle Eastern men accosted women out for the night's festivities. They surrounded them, groped them, robbed them. Two women were reportedly raped.

Though there were similar incidents from Hamburg to Helsinki, the authorities at first played down the assaults, lest they prove inconvenient for Angela Merkel's policy of mass asylum for refugees.

That delay has now cost Cologne's police chief his job. But the German government still seems more concerned about policing restless natives -- most recently through a deal with Facebook and Google to restrict anti-immigrant postings -- than with policing migration. Just last week Merkel rejected a proposal to cap refugee admissions (which topped one million last year) at 200,000 in 2016.

The underlying controversy here is not a new one. For decades conservatives on both sides of the Atlantic have warned that Europe's generous immigration policies, often pursued in defiance of ordinary Europeans' wishes, threaten to destabilize the continent.

The conservatives have made important points about the difficulty of assimilation, the threat of radicalization, and the likelihood of Paris-style and Cologne-style violence in European cities.

But they have also trafficked in more apocalyptic predictions -- fears of a "Eurasia," of mass Islamification -- that were somewhat harder to credit. Until recently, Europe's assimilation challenge looked unpleasant but not insurmountable, and the likelihood of Yugoslavian-style balkanization relatively remote.

With the current migration, though, we're in uncharted territory. The issue isn't just that immigrants are arriving in the hundreds of thousands rather than the tens of thousands. It's that a huge proportion of them are teenage and twentysomething men.

It’s a complicated problem that Berlin should have picked up by the end of 2013....talked over....made wise decisions....set limits....and avoided problems. Instead, they just choose to continue on....fixing minor issues as they crossed each bridge, and kept waiting for the next problem to occur.

Mid-March....three state elections occur in Germany. Normally, it wouldn’t matter for a state election. In this case, it’s a frustration vote matter, and it could go negative against Merkel, her party, and the coalition party (SPD).

I think it’s grown to the point where it’s simply too complicated now for the typical German to understand and this ‘fix-it’ mentality that might be shoved upon Berlin...it’s way beyond their grasp or capability.

It just struck me at how much “fun” these Moslem immigrants could have if all of our cold war troops were still in Germany and the housing areas and Kasernes open.

Of course, then those empty Kasernes would not be available for housing said ‘refugees.’

Shame that the west is looking at ways to integrate the muslim horde is team of standing up for their nations.
I guess it’s the whole socialist experience. We will all suffer and we will all wallow in the mud together. Except for those chosen few pigs, who will be more equal than the rest and will lead us.

How do you not talk about it on facebook?

"Tried to go to the store but nondescript men surrounded and fondled me. Don't go to the store and watch out for nondescript men!"

Yes, this article has been widely cited in the German media. Note how in the last two paragraphs of this Zeit article, they tried to find and cite other articles that had something nice to say about Merkel. It is remarkable that leftwing rags like the Zeit are now Merkel’s greatest fans.

There will be a push back. The question is how hard of a push back. I think Germany needs to find a bit of their nationalistic spirit but I am a bit torn because they don’t have a good track record with that.

Not at a brink, more like on the bottom of a subduction zone.

It appears that Adolf Hitler has been reincarnated as a radical Muslim and now he is re-invading Europe all over again.

66% of the Migrants are young Muslim males who have been raised in a culture where women are disrespected and are less than 2nd class citizens. What did Merkel expect from this group? She should be kicked out of office.

Clearly the bitch is a traitor to western Judeo-Christian civilization, starting with her own country. The same is true for certain others like her.

What do you suppose dem deutsch volk (?) are likely to do about her and her new friends?

Good article. One thing he doesn’t mention is not only that these Muslim “immigrants” are unmarried young men, but that because of polygamy, many of them wouldn’t have any chance of marrying I their home countries anyway.

The women go to the higher status and older males, and since the ratio of men to women in society is general about 50/50, if one man has four wives, this means others won’t have any. It’s one of the reasons that the first thing Muslim invaders of a country do is to capture the women and dole them out among the (generally lower status) fighters.

I read an analysis that said that one of the reasons Muslim countries are traditionally unstable is that they have a huge percentage of single young men - who will never be able to marry even in their home countries, thanks to polygamy.

These people are not all from the mountains of Afghanistan. They know how to behave. They also know no one is going to MAKE them behave in Germany they way they would MAKE them behave at home. Slap on the wrist. Big deal.

If the Germans rise up against their extermination, she hangs from a lamp post.

If the Muslims win, she is a great heroine who will announce her "reversion" to Islam occurred years ago in secret.
